Yea, I’m looking at the Jebao dosing pumps currently, but I’ll read up a little more and see what other pumps I can find. Would like one I can change remotely as it honestly makes life easier and feeding frequency and amounts change over time.

So might be usefull. I’ll see tho, for now I’m still running tests on multiple variables.

I’m also thinking of installing cameras on my systems now or water sensors so things like my sump issue today doesn’t happen again, still don’t know where all the water went, I’m so confused regarding that.

Soooo just some pics and some other stuff.

Lost all the Amano’s at day 22, so I then decided to rebuild the amano zoea tank, made some major changes and upgrades to the prototype system. Also cleaned the tank out and got some new water in there, also added about 1L of live phytoplankton and a whole bunch of algae, letting the system establish and cycle for the next batch that will be moved in soon.

Just a pic of some of my Red Cherry shrimp.

Blue Dream shrimp. Not a good pic but I really tried, they refused to sit still for more than a second.

    Some neon yellow shrimp
    [IMG]

The above photo was taken in the quarantine setup, set up this tank for the neon yellows this morning and planting some Sagittaria Subulata, around 50 or so of them in 1/3 of the tank, also added a nice clump of Christmas moss and some botanicals, might still change the sudden switch from black and white to black to something more gradual.

About 5cm of pool filter sand and 1cm of black and white gravel where the plants are being planted (they get root tabs) the black substrate is lava rock and thats covering around 2/3 of the tank.

I also have to add, I learnt quite a bit from the first run on the prototype system from raising Amano’s. These things might not work for everyone and I’ll only share them if I can prove it time and again. But I really feel like the things I have learnt in this short time is the way to go.

I will keep you guys updated on the next run.

Sooooo imma try something “crazy” I guess lol.

Doing a full marine setup with live sand and live rock on the next batch, also thinking of adding some coral and sand sifters I dunno yet, I’ll try it out as is first. Just busy polishing the water as that sand is DIRTY.

I do have a better filter that cleaned it up quite a bit but it got full so I swopped it out for a bottle

Also highly contemplating adding a surface skimmer as well as a protein skimmer along with all the filtration currently running in the tank to minimise ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. I might do some DIY ones first and if they are sufficient I’ll stick with them, if not ill upgrade them to decent ones

Pretty soon yea, gotta go buy a fire truck less hassle

But Amano’s are my main focus and I’m not gonna give up, I’m putting everything I have in to them. I have not seen anyone do it this way, or heard of anyone that has tried it this way, sooooooo .

I feel like adding sand sifters would be great to gather all the excess food. Will help reduce fouling the water.

And coral to remove nutrients from the water. I’m still deciding on coral, but I think GSP is the way to go.

Want to create a little ecosystem for them with animals that wont harm them.

Nahh thinking snails, seastars things like that. No fish. Unless they are safe. But haven’t read up on fish yet.

Water is clearing nicely. Think by Tuesday Morning it should be good. But think I’ll be running it for a bit longer.

Yea, I have 50 kilo’s of this sand.

Used some in my malawi tank a while back and it took me a month to completely clear the water.

This polisher seems to be working better tho. So I’m saying Tuesday morning haha. If its earlier GREAT. Lol

Sooo water is clearing up real nice. Actually impressed with the bottles performance.

I’ll be using this in the morning to get it nice and clear. Works really well, and connects perfectly to a pumps outlet.

Some of you might be able to guess what it is from. Pain in the ass to clean tho. Especially cause I’m using it in reverse.

Thinking about it, I might actually connect the system up as normal for a while to get some high flow in there and see if anything is settled then I might switch to the bottle again if there is a lot that has settled or just use that dome if it isn’t that bad
