Sooo one of the tanks I have built is up and running.

90L tank running a 800LPH internal and a established double sponge filter.

As well as a 500w heater and a thermometer on the other side of the tank to ensure it’s up to temp across the tank.

Unfortunately I can’t share more of the tank as we have some things in there that are prototypes and can’t leak them yet

There are more, just hard getting them all in frame as they are in a 90L tank.

But I did lose a few from the first batch as I messed up a little on the salinity. But I do have 3 batches running currently and waiting on 3 more that should pop soon.

There is one issue that I am having tho, some babies seem to get stuck on top of the water surface, and you have to constantly plonk them down again.

No idea how this is possible as I don’t have any bubbles or anything else in their tank that can take them above the waters surface, I didn’t have this issue when I had bubbles or not as far as I am aware, I guess the bubbles break the waters tention so that they don’t get stuck on the surface.

No this isn’t the protein layer on the surface, they somehow physically get stuck on top of the water like when a piece of dust or a hair falls in to your tank it drifts on top of the water, honestly have no clue how they are doing it but it is a pain. I’ll have to test and see how I can resolve the issue.

I have also left them for quite some time to see if they manage to get back down but I have not seen 1 being able to go back down when they are stuck on top, they do try their best tho.

Are they climbing up something to get above the water line? Like the filter or the glass? Maybe your best bet is an airstone to just break that surface tension.

I honestly have no Idea how they are doing this.

I am currently running a 800Lph internal filter to circulate the water near the bottom, and I removed my double sponge filters top and connected a pipe to it to blast water down from the top.

This seems to have resolved the issue of them floating on the surface.

Cool yes, hoping that does the trick. Hopefully very gentle flow for the little zoe?

Its a 90L tank with an 800lph internal filter, gives quite the flow.

Nothing crazy tho, id say they travel around the tank in about 10 or so seconds, round the tank is about 2 meters.

You’re at the leading edge here, nothing I have experience with. But keep it gentle I’d say.

In the wild they experience lots of ocean currents and the like. If they are growing it is working IMO

    Sooo has gone sideways.

I wasn’t able to be home all day, I fed the Amano’s this morning at around 3:30-4am went to bed and again at 6am when I woke up and checked on them, all/most of them seemed to be alive.

Now roughly 12-13 hours later when I got home, im only counting 5 in my tank, from well over 200 this morning.

No clue what happened, I’m guessing it was feeding wise as I started to feed 4-5 times a day and I was not able to do that today.

Have checked the parameters and they are all good.

And on another note, one of my 150L sumps have managed to run completely dry, filling it back up as I am typing this message.

Can’t see any water leaks or anything, no idea how that happened.

My pump seems to be burned out to an extent, pumping water but not nearly as much as it should.

I hope it holds till tomorrow, don’t have a spare

Edit: cover is also completely brown as if it got real hot.

    On a positive note tho,

Got some berried blue dream females as well as some berried neon yellow shrimp.

    Super stoked about that

    Sorry man that sucks.

Why not put them on an auto feeder?

I’ll need something for liquid, and I need to aerate them so the particles don’t settle to the bottom, feeding 3 different types of food. Daily, and some other foods I found work really well.

I’m thinking of going with a 4-5 way dosing system.

Dosing pump will work for sure. Put a small airstone in the containers to airate them
