I never have charcoal in my filter.

Just rinse the filter media out in tank water every few months.
Gently. Just to get rid of the worst of the gunk, but don't want to damage too much of the bacteria

    I never cleaned my rocks.
Left them to grow algae. Looks more natural imo.

Bright is good, it will promote algae growth and the mbuna will chow it.

Damn I'm so jealous of those rocks... where about do you stay? hehe:cheesy:

I want it for my planted tank! damn... too far dude!

If I may suggest, once you get the PFS, try to rearrange the rocks to either the right or left side. Try to create a sloping effect with caves, etc. The mbunas doesn't need big caves. Oh, a friendly warning, if you are going to be stacking the rocks high up, make sure that the bottom rocks are sitting on the bottom. These guys WILL dig to the bottom, no matter how deep the PFS is.

I only see now that my Resun canisters flow rate is 800 LPH? The water seems to be clear,is this filter okay?? Or do I need no upgrade to a bigger one?

For a 4ft tank and that you are keeping cichlids, you would need to a turn over rate of at least 6x of your tank volumn. The 800lts/hr is not actual flow. That is rated on an empty canister without media. Also how high is your tank above the filter? The head height will restrict flow. I would suggest you upgrading to atleast double the lt/hr or even 2000lts/hr

Im using a 700lt/hr Sicce canister filter on a 2ft tank and I still feel that is not enough.

For my cichlid tank, im using a sump filter, with 2x pumps, one is 5000lt/hr and other back up is 1200lt/hr. Taking head height into consideration, I get about 2500 - 3000lt/hr.

So rather go big for a mbuna tank to accommodate for future babies.

Looking good bud. The sand makes it look much better.

Try to stack the rocks more naturally, I.e. don't stack like caves, but rather try to create natural crevices. Oh and get more of that awesome rock.

[IMG][IMG]Decided to stick with each canister running on it's own... two inlets on the left(red = pump 2 situated high...black = pump 1 situated low in tank) and have the outlets to the righ...(the outlet of pump 2 like this gives me better circulation I see) I must say the PFS does look awesome!
