New Central American Tank

Haha well, Dolphin, almost every 'exotic' fish I've had so far has outgrown this tank, I was looking for something a little more permanent...

Unless you have something 'exotic' to offer? :blink1:

 

nothing now, but looks like they'll be another shipment before xmas so I could then offer some interesting exotics... why dont you go for the dwarf cichlids!

 

I'll never surrender to the Dwarves! I'm just not that into them... yet. Just make sure to swing the list of fish through when it's ready, I'm keen to fill up some tank space.

As for this thread, I'll be adding another few CA cichlids tomorrow afternoon, and also will be showing off something new. :idea: Stay tuned.

@ High-wash: I found some clay pipe in my garden a while back, and it just fits the bill as far as many tank setups go.

I'm not too sure where it came from originally though...

I wanted to find out how your convicts have got along with your Firemouths... i'm thinking of setting up a similar setup in my 3ft.

I can't highly recommend it - the convicts aren't aggressive, per se, but because they are ALWAYS breeding, they tend to be quite territorial. And I've found that the Firemouths are pretty cheeky, and often try their luck at getting some eggs or stray fry. This normally ends up with them taking a fair beating... and they're pretty slow learners in my experience.

I think my firemouths would suit a 'calmer' environment much more, even though the damage isn't extensive.
