You can ask me all the questions, hopefully I can give you the answers but if not there are some great people on this forum that can shed their light as well. I really hope that they are going to spawn and that you get some awesome off spring from them.
one thing that I will definitely recommend is when you have some little ones, I suggest that you don't feed fatty foods to the parents eg ox heart, liver even blood worms. Why I say this is they are very messy eaters so the water gets cloudy very quickly an the little ones do not have a strong enough immune system so you may loose a lot of the spawn because of this Its just a recommendation. As this happened to me a few times.

Thanks for the advice and yes members on this forum are great and always willing to help which is fantastic

I have never fed ox heart or liver as I have always been scared of what it can do to the water. They get Hikari, earthworms and mealworms.
I give blood worms every other day but they don't eat them...the clowns have a feast!!

Hey @MariaS did you manage to remove the little loaches?
Sounds like Oscars are a lot of fun to keep, and hazardous!Have to make sure you keep you'r fingers:)

hI @GaryG.... Ummmm.. ok.. we manged to catch 3 of the litlle zebra midgets and one polkadot...
I still have a little zebra, a polkadot and a yoyo who were too clever for us.
I have a whole side with spider wood an they hide there so well that you just cant get them out.
I am taking out the spiderwood this weekend -long one so we have more time to play- as I have bought some anubias and java that I still needed to add there and then I am sure we will be able to catch them.

The clowns are still there but they already about 7cm so they not tinny....and I really have not noticed the oscars threaghtning them at all so just keeping an eye for now.
Oscars are too busy on the corner where they have chosen to clean that rock and are now busy digging up all the substrate.. but leaving everyone else alone at this stage.
There is also a lot of driftwood for the clowns so I will see how it goes until the weekend

Strangely enough, the oscars are more protective of the severums (deacons) than the loaches....

Well... I thought my fingers would be gone by now but strangely enough they are very gentle when taking food, so long as you dont go right down below the halfwy mark of the tank
The bigger actually allows me to pu my hand right around him!! Its weired..
I can only assume that the previous owner did give them a lot of attention and obviously got rid of them because of the piranas otherwise they would not be so tame

Ha Ha that is amazing a fish that likes to be handled cool.
Well at least with all those hiding spots the loaches are not going to allow anyone to catch them not even the oscar, they are pretty fast !

Thanks @SterlingAce... it always breaks my heart when you go to the LFS and you see fish like Oscars and others that were bought small and then taken back when they get too big and suddenly find themselves in small tanks at the LFS waiting for someone to give them a home....
