Definitely, or maybe glass slider setup or anything to cover your tank top properly else you will also loose allot of water volume due to evaporation. Cant recall the exact amount I have paid, but bought my canopy at lfs in boksburg at the back of the Fleamarket.

If i can give a tip i would cover the tank under the lid with glass or some other clear material
I also had striplights the water proof kind and it only lasted a couple of months before it started rusting because of the condensation. Maybe i just had bad quality striplights

Thanks Hencoloots. I'm thinking doing the glass cover. I've siliconed the led's on the ends and all connections. The strips are cheap @R120 for 1.2m. I cut them to 1m, and sealed off the smaller pieces. So I have 2x 20cm led strips now, complete with aluminium extrution housings and cover.

That is completely normal. When i started i had a 1.2m tank less then 6months later i bought a 2m tank. Just a hint never get rid of the smaller tank you will probably need it later on.

Ya, know the feeling. Started with 20L, got a 4feet 3weeks ago. Have space for a 8 to 12 feet, but the cost of filters and heaters will be insane. Think 5 or 6 feet will be nice middle ground.

Perfectly, then a 2m, then a 3m and, then a fish room with species and breeding tanks, then your wife kicks you and your multiple tanks out of the house, then you use one garage, then both, then you look for a larger house, then you consider turning your pool into a tropical pond, then a tank for the office, then you bribe your kids to also want tanks....
