    She got that one at Marievale. We almost missed her. She was in the reeds and we waited for her to come out to get decent pic.

    Here was my extremely lucky rietvlei spotting. The funniest part was that I never knew how rare it was in the first place, till I asked one of the other people queuing up to see it why they were waiting so patiently to see a bird :lol:
    You can tell how new I am to birding :rolleyes:DSC_1145.jpg

    Uhm not too sure, I only know they're found in Reed banks and marshes/vlei and are waders

    I actually took some nature photos for this thread but forgot about them... Here's what nature is for me now.

    I admit I'm homesick

    That's stunning though! Have you ever gone out at night? There must be some amazing night light in the desert!

    Yes I have .. on this trip we actually went and had a braai. Then by evening ate and sipped on some tea under the night sky.. was incredible

    The first 2 pics were taken at night, the light you see is the moon shining from behind the mountain

    @Trompie 04

    Where did you see these?

    Crested Guineafowl are unusual
    Have seen them in northern Natal a few years ago.

    We went to Sodwana for a few days last week and saw quite a lot of them there inside the park.
