@Reedfish how do you know so much about plants? Are you a botanist/horticulturist?

I think @Reedfish is a very skilled and knowledgeable horticulturalist as his other hobby. Glad he’s giving aquatic plants another go!

Africans invading (uhhhh allready invaded) our country.

African Nile Geese are beautiful birds but quite invasive.[IMG]

Our native geese (with Canadian intruders) looting the just harvested cornfields. Too many of those too.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

No, I am not. Would love to be though . (Am an accountant )
I have been growing plants for 35 + years - cacti & succulents, ferns, orchids, carnivorous plants, bulbs, tropical plants. Etc.

I have also been fascinated by nature all my life - wildlife (everything from microbes to mammals), fish keeping, plants/ botany, palaeontology,
Have literally thousands of books on various topics.
So while I do not have any formal qualifications on this, I do have a fair bit of knowledge based on my own studying.

A British friend of ours grew up with David Attinborough as their neighbour. Says he was away a lot, modest house chock full of specimens and books, ie pretty much what one would imagine :)

For the Western Cape people, the Langebaan Fossil Park is a real gem and well worth a visit. Mammals, birds etc from 5 mil years ago. Astonishing collection including short neck giraffes, in situ fossils as well as a great visitor center, knowledgeable guides. Not sure if they’re open yet.

My fossil collection(with a few exceptions) is from before the KT boundary (event that ended the dinosaurs). Not much younger

Correct. The swallows have left so the Wagtails have taken over the fly and waspcatching (second pic).

The amount that the Swallows appeared to have eaten is unbelievable.
