Okay cool sounds like a good plan, first see if it will happen naturally without having to shield the eggs.

    Sounds like they fertalised
. orange is good. Its common for a young male to eat eggs. They get dark from producing excess slime coat to feed fry.all sounds good

@RuanJ definitely, will give updates on how things progress.

@Discusnut cool so everything is in order. The fish I swopped the big one with is very docile. The big one is very aggro. I think he would give my oscar a go if he ever got the chance haha. He is also very selective who he allows close to him. When I put him back in the other tank he teamed up with one of the others almost immediately and follows that fish around now so not interested in bullying the rest for now. They are also doing a little shake now and then but haven't started cleaning any surface yet. Damn, I'm going to run out of tank space if this continues.

This guy is a bliksem haha. I can see now how important it is to separate the aggro fish from the docile ones when growing them out. They keep the others off the food. I have to feed really hard for everyone to get a bite to eat as he will only allow the others to feed when he's full. Will have to get more tanks to do it right.

The one he teamed up with now is also a very aggressive fish and is the only one that will feed next to him and take the hits and dish out some back his way when necessary.

When they said on the documentary that discus are just as easy as any other fish to keep they where lying. Maybe easy on the fish but not the keeper haha.

@RuanJ if evolution gave cichlids teeth like pirahna they would have been the only lifeform left on this planet today. Nothing would have left the water haha.

OK, so the two fish in my breeding cube are both females and confirmed now. Going to do a mix up tonight again. Want to put the big male with my biggest female but they HATE each other, will give it a try anyway, maybe the alone time will bring them around. If there's physical damage I'll remove her and try with the smaller female again. Does anyone have experience with matching aggressive fish? Will I be wasting their time or do they come around eventually? It's probably 50/50 but would like to hear if anyone had success or not.

Just to let everyone know I won't leave them to their own devices, I will separate as soon as one fish hurts the other one or if I see any discomfort. I'm keeping a hawks eye on them. The reason I want to match these two is because the yield of this "new" female is massive compared to the smaller one at almost 4 times as many eggs. She covered almost 1/4 of the pot last night. The two in the last pic I posted isn't getting anywhere I think they are both males as they shake and peck but it looks like they are waiting for each other to do something but nothing is happening, this has been going on since I moved the big fish back.

I got a pair of pigeons that paired up and busy clean surfaces for laying but whether they a pair is yet to be confirmed. I just received a blue mosaic leopard turquoise male for my blue snakeskin turquoise female and put them in my cube, it was like the grand Prix in there but it has slowed down now so hope she is warming up to him

Hope you have success with the pigeons. That's what happens when these two are together as well, it's a constant chase. Will give it a go and see how its turns out.

@MariaS haha, yip, got my hands full with them but I love it. Learning so much about their behavior and it makes it exciting with all the moving around of fish to see what will happen. Tonight is going to be sports.

    These two.
