BoelderBeestie yeah i can imagine how the excitement builds up and then gets shot right down again, sorry to hear. But there will always be a next time and the bonus now is that you actually have a male and female pair, so more eggs should be successfully fertilized the next time they spawn. So the waiting game begins again for them to spawn once again.

Thanks @Mario J it's a result of a severe mental disorder called MTS and is known to escalate to a point of total fish keeping madness. Or so they say haha.

I saw that the eggs got fungus again so I'm going to dose paragaurd next time. I did some reading and the guys are using a anti fungal chemical but they use strong stuff at low doses. I'll rather try a full dose paragaurd as its not as strong and when I dosed it in the past my fish didn't seem stressed by it. I'm not a fan of chemicals but I'm going to use it for a specific problem so not actually breaking my rule haha.

I'll rather also full dose a product than lowering its dose in case I create a super fungus immune to fungicides. Don't know if thats how it works but rather safe than sorry I guess. Any thoughts?

I found that Methylene Blue works better than Seachem Paraguard on Cory eggs.

    Good idea, Bad idea?

I want to move my oscars in with the aro today and move the unpaired discus to the 350L. I want to keep the tank as is with plants and all. The discus are almost grown out and I can just move them back if problems arise. Is this a good or bad move? I think its a bad plan but want to give it a shot to see if they can cope in a planted tank and give my pair some room to spawn. I'm not worried about handling the fish as I've done it many times without any problems.

Sounds like a good idee, moving the discus. But what will tha aro's reaction be to new tank mates?

@BoelderBeestie... its a gamble... No one can actually give you the right answer
All depends on the Aro and a lot on the Oscars....

Cesar's silver also just under 80cm has always accepted tank mates of any size that have been added to the tank with no problem

About month ago we put the 2 big Oscars in her big tank and it just didnt work..
No physical damage a such... but Oscars are very territorial and ganged up together not allowing Dragon to swim the full length of the tank and Dragon was not happy
Because he has never been agro he didnt harm oscars but after 3 weeks of not eating.. we took oscars out....

Your Oscars are still fairly small compared to my two and she is big so you might have a better chance of it working but like i said no one can say what will happen as both have minds of their own
Personally I would try but I would do it on a Friday afternoon so you can keep and eye over the weekend.... Just my opinion...

On discus side I'd take 2 of ur least favorite discus and add in tank first to see if that filter is housing pathogens ur discus might not handle well.

@MariaS Thanks for the input, not going to do it then as the one oscar is big(26cm) and agro and there's 3 of them now even if the other two are still small. You tried and tested and I think the same is going to happen to me. All my tanks are so well balanced now I must just leave it alone and get another tank for breeding purposes I guess. After reading your experience I remember that the oscar did terrorize the aro when they where together and also kept him away from the spot the oscar made his own not allowing the aro full use of the tank.

I can't go bigger for the aro at this stage in my life because the next tank is an indoor assembly and I'm renting so if I move there's major problems. Will have to get an extra discus tank for now. Upgrade my 1.2m to a 1.5m and use the old one for breeding.
