Also got myself some Otocinclus to play with.

The habitat I created for them, basically a slow flowing well lit stream type vibe.

Feeding is done with algae I grow for them on white perspex. Nothing better than fresh food.

Thanks, I want to go get some white stones from the beach so that algae can grow quicker on them but haven't had time for that.

I found that tank wood used to grow aufwuchs (algae and other biofilm) which my GN used to spend most of the time feeding on

@BoelderBeestie all I can say it wow awesome, just freeken awesome. Your red pigeons are just insane man.
All of this goes to show that having fish in a planted tank is purely for our viewing pleasure only. If you have discus of this quality in your aquariums you absolutely don't need anything more than a glass box.

Love the otto tank. Very interesting fish if you have them in a species only tank. A lfs here got some orange and zebra otto's in the other day. Would be awesome to see a school of them in your aquarium. Unfortunately they go for about the same price as your discus fry.

I really like your setups. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try to keep Discus...

All my tanks planted have wood, decided to rough this one myself. I think I'm enjoying the algae farming more than the fish.

With discus you don't even notice the glass box when the fish are in good health. They pull your attention immediately. Their personalities are like that of an oscar, always up front wagging tails and ready to eat more and more and more and more:lol:. I have 4 planted tanks to compensate for the pretty vs. practical dilemma.

Nah you don't have to be brave, just logical. They are just fish like all the others we keep. Give them what they want and all will be fine.
