My water was always at 8 degrees GH. 8x18 gives me 144ppm TDS. Will test again when I get home. What is your GH?

I'll have to do the same. With a kh that low we will have to be careful.

@Adhil Do you think peat will do the trick for us in the mean time? I see some guys are using a bucket full of peat to fill their aging barrels and they get a good reduction in GH an KH. But will this water work for breeding? One benefit I read was it has anti fungal and bacterial properties too.

Peat will soften the water up!
Go and buy that from your local nursery.

@Wilhelm excellent, will go and get some and try it. My fish started to shake again last night, hopefully I'm in time this afternoon.

Yes, I can see a difference from the morning and evening, it's hectic how fast they grow.

@Adhil thanks, it has been a long journey hey. I keeping up with growth rate too. Just over a inch a month. I saw him picking at the bottom for the first time this morning so its time for some real food. Been feeding him a lot, I go through two batches of bbs a day now. I feed twice in the morning before work and then continuously in the evenings till I go to bed. 2x60% water changes a day morning and evening.

Separated my pair as per marco's advise last week but will try again at the end of the month, hopefully I can get the numbers up next time. Now that I've got a better understanding of raising fry and eggs in general I will let the parents do their thing but I will also pull a batch to raise myself. There's just something about raising something from an egg yourself that makes it worth the effort.
