    Ai, down to three now. Looks like the parents lost interest in them. What I've read is that it's common for them to fail the first couple of tries with fry. At least I've got a confirmed fertile pair.

    I am down to 1, I am a bit disappointed but also read the same as you. They should spawn again on Sunday after I do my 50% water change. It's only a matter of time until we get it right.

    I'm going to put him in a 10L and try to artificially raise him to get some practice with that if he's still alive when I get home. I already started a brine shrimp hatchery yesterday afternoon so I should have some later. Maybe he will be my lucky fish haha. I doesn't look complicated to do. He was swimming around picking stuff of the glass and about as big as a baby guppy now.

    @Reedfish no a 10L. I see the guys put the babies in very small containers for the first few weeks to ensure they get fed properly and do 100% water change after every feeding. They then place them in a grow out tank after they start taking normal food. There's a post by pHish_man where he does the same.

    Here's a pic I found on google of the fry pans. I don't have a tank to float pans in right now so going to use the 10L instead. I'll build a similar contraption later on.

    @BoelderBeestie

    Ah, ok, I misread.
    Thought you were going to put the adult male in a tank that size :eek:
    Makes sense now

    I've got three left. Don't know where they where hidding this morning. The parents have spawned again and don't mind them feeding off their sides. Going to leave them alone for now.

    My three are still feeding off the parents. I was thinking. Isn't this how they learn to look after them. What I've seen with them just after the hatch they moved around the tank like they do when they don't have eggs and the babies had a hard time keeping up. Now they are staying still and fanning the eggs and the babies don't have to chase after them to feed. Probably not how it works but that's the observation I made so far. I've also not seen any aggression towards the babies. When I fed the adults yesterday the babies would move in front of the parents while feeding. The parents would see them and aim for a hit but as soon as they come close they stop and don't eat them. I also switched to bloodworm now to keep the water cleaner as the other frozen foods does a number on the water.

    I haven't bought bloodworms in a while and I've noticed it's different than a year ago. They added something as it smells fruity now.

    Still 3. Don't know where the other one was hidding. They grow fast. Started giving them baby brine shrimp and they are eating it so things look good.

    The spawn I had with the fry in the tank hatched but the wrigglers where eaten by the parents except one. Weird. Will check if he's still alive later.

    Excellent! I'm not going to worry about the fungus anymore it seems if the eggs are fertile the babies don't care and break through it. With both my previous spawns the amount of dark eggs (about 25-30) that was covered by fungus from the infertile eggs(over 50) hatched. I though both times it would be a right off as it was one fungal mass.

    Here's a tip if you don't have it already, get brine shrimp eggs and get the hatchery in place and start the first batch the day the fry goes free swimming so that you'll have some the next day to feed. Even with only 3 babies they eat it quite fast. I add the bbs 3 times a day for now. Damn I was running around like a mad man trying to find some in time, then the shop closest to me had some, go figure haha.

    I have a ac70 with a sponge and a corner air filter with matrix in it. My ac 70 creates a bit of a current in the tank so when they started to spawn I switched the ac70 off. It's 24 hours and there is no sign of fungus as yet. Hope all the eggs where fertilized. If all is well then by tomorrow I should start seeing the eye develope. If I do get a good batch then I will try using a canister filter instead of the ac70
