    Thanks for the note.
Only found tow of the 10 shrimp in the tank yesterday. Doubt that any made it on the first try of the shrimp tank.
Will make a mental note to keep the plants in the 250 before they move to the shrimp tank.

@Sean J on that topic, what will be the best way to get rid of the copper on your plants? Also for those that do not know, dosing in moderation is fine for your shrimp tanks, but dosing Seachem Flourish is a no no!

@HennieRoux - Is that only the Flourish Comprehensive or the whole Flourish range? What alternative fertilizer would you recommend?

Holy crap ! Are you sure about comprehensive ?

That explains why a lot why breeding have suddenly slowed down now that comprehensive is being used.

    Thanks Hennie,

I thought the quantities of copper in comprehensive was not high enough for them to be harmful.

Yes it is very low, but according to most threads I have come across, it is enough to harm them as they are extremely sensative.

Oh and don't use snails as an indicator of low Copper. Have one in the tank that had a jolly time, till it got netted...

Hi Guys I did some research a while ago on CSM+B for planted tanks and if it will be considered as save to dose with my shrimp. I found the following link which proved the concentrations of Cu to be half lethal to shrimp http://calc.petalphile.com/cu :

The above value starts being unsafe/ half lethal for species mentioned

Last night I too a reflector from the Jewel. The one I am no longer using (cost of Jewel globes are flippen crazy)
So snapped the reflector in half, and placed it in the lid of the tank. Drove screws into the tank cover.
So now I have two reflectors in the tank, and you can see them working. So cost to install reflectors in the tank... R0-00. Just 5 minutes to make little holes (with a screw driver)

My butt is just itching to get a T5 globe in the tank and not the T8 globes

In Pretoria, you can try PetStop.
Or any Jewel dealer will have.

I took a 45cm reflector, snapped it in two (very easy to snap it in two btw) and screwed it to the tank top.

Just a question but do shrimp need RO water or a mix of 50 tap and 50 RO or would they survive in aged tap water. I am just asking as I have never had shrimp and am thinking of it. Also what type of filter wood be good for them in a small tank like yours and do you use the normal filter media as with fish. Thank you
