My shell dweller project

What substrate are you using in your community tank? I have pfs but thinking about changing to something else.

No problem looks really nice in there. What's it like to maintain and vac compared to sand?

 

Thanks man, my best looking substrate atm. The granules are 1.5mm to 2mm witch is easier to Siphon as the waste is lighter, you will hardly suck up substrate. Sand will always end up in the bucket. The sand can be clumpy trapping waste etc but shellies are always digging which is good. Also if you have mts they assist with the clumpy sand and waste.

 

How's all your fish doing now?

 

My time with shellies has ended. I have a different tanganyika species now.

 

Which species @Nawaaz ? Have you got a thread going on them?

 

I myself will be keeping only frontosa and maybe a calvus specie
