Thanks measured the glass thickness and it is 1mm doesn't seem to be the same type as the tank though.

Ran into a bit of a issue earlier the Resun pump has two canisters you can hook up to it but with both on I had to clear all the gravel under it because it wont fit and it look rather unsightly. So I took it out cut it in half and put it together again with some silicon. After its dry ill fill it with filter media and hook it up to the other one.

You just contradicted yourself. The light gets REFRACTED by the glass, which you admitted! Refracted light entering the water surface gets refracted again. I'm not arguing over the fact that the LIGHT won't reach the plants, but the correct SPECTRUM of light that is required for photosynthesis (If I recall it's 400nm and 700nm) get refracted the most, and therefore does not reach the depth of the tank. Your eyes will not pick this up. Only the photosynthetic cell in the plants leaves pick this up, and don't photosynthesise.

Now I am using as much of the filter as possible without having to dig a hole all the way to the bottom of the aquarium to make it fit in.

So I got a couple of ideas on how to make a cheap easy background for my tank going out to see if I can find the things I need will post an update soon.

Went to a local design company and got them to print a plain colored background in this case a very dark maroon onto a piece of paper and then laminate it to make it water prove.

This is what the tank looks like with the new laminated background I put up using double sided tape.

I try and feed him a variety of foods: Bloodworms, OX heart, Red Worms, Ocean Nutrient Chillid Mix, Green peas and pellets.

 cut a wooden board to fit the bottom of the stand.
Extra space for your nets, food etc.

Yeah I had to remove the background this morning he seemed to still be in distress about it. The wood idea is a nice one ill get something cut to size at builders.

The way your substrate is shaped gives the impression that the tank is bowing in the middle

Yeah I noticed it in the picture does not look like that tho when I compare it. I think its the lights will take a picture without it being on.

I am going to make a wooden shelf that slides in under the tank so I can put all my aquarium stuff on it. Went to Builders Warehouse and got a board pre-cut busy varnishing it so it does not get water marks.

:hmmmm:if you cut the wood the same size as the top tank, you will need a square (the size of your tubing) on all the corners :top:
warning - you will be tempted to fit a smaller tank on that shelf:eek:
