    hello @Aqua
    here are my up date pics. as you can see they have all grown in size from when i got them. the largest one is round 12cm from 7cm and the smaller ones from 5cm to about 7/8cm all good. it has not all been smooth sailing, there has been a bit of sadness as well. month or so back had a death it was the smallest one and as you know the runt gets hammered good and proper. as it turns out i managed to get gill flukes in my tank and i suspect they came from my display tank. well its the only place i could think they came from. well to start with i added salt up to about 3g per liter. that did nothing! the i used seachems para guard, well that did nothing! and after all that little guy passed. the other discus in the tank were all dark clamped fins not eating like they should. lucky for me i got hold of some praziquantel and after five day treatment they all started to school and eat like crazy again, happy days. i must say it has been hard work. im at a lose for words when see how much muck is at the bottom of a tank. never had a bare bottom until now! i shudder when i think of whats in my planted display tank, best not to think to hard about that one, HA HA! im in hook line and sinker and loving it
    cheers Doug

    Hi @doug,

    Sorry about your loss! it's never nice to lose a fish!

    Your Discus are looking great! and I really love the patterns and colours :) How old are they now? I know what you mean about the muck, which is exactly why I am contemplating removing the silica sand from my new set up (I only put the silica sand in on Sunday and its already annoying me).. I much prefer the clean look of the bare bottom tank as well as the ease of syphoning out the muck and making sure the tank is spotless.

    Kind regards
    Candice

    hello @Aqua not sure of the exact age of them but id say round 7/8 months iv had them for three months now. the change in them has been big. from the first few weeks of being real shy to if i come in the room they hassle me for food, if they could get out the water to help them selves i swear they would
    cheers doug

    what happened and did you have a loss or not?

    I lost 20 of my fish due to some sort of infection that all started with the "red nasal cavity"symtoms.
    Maybe @Dirk can come up with a possible ID on it?
    Was the one you lost also the "red nose" one?

    Thats always a good sign if you are been "hassled" for food by your Discus. They are beautiful, hope you get some good parents from there and have lots of babies.

    @doug
    Overall your group of Discus are coming on very nicely. Well done so far

    Now that I have looked at pics on someone else's larger LCD, and CANNOT fathom what mattie meant ...
    I supplied Ancistrus with Discus ordered, and it's perfectly normal to appear that colour viewed ventrally

    @mattie
    If that is correct,I believe you mistook an underside of a Gold Albino Ancistrus attached to the plastic bag, as POSSIBLY a Discus Head-On, with inflamed nostrils?

    Sorry to hear you lost 20 fish, I'm assuming you mean Discus???
    You can contact me if you have an urgent Discus health issue, I can be of some valuable assistance
    Usually inflamed nares are symptomatic of inflammation , pointing to underlying stress.
    This is largely water quality and chemistry related.
    Exceptions do occur

    it clears some confusion surrounding mysterious "red nostril Discus", which incidentally is not the case with Doug's current group of Domestic RSG
