Thanks for the input guys all comments noted. I'm thinking of using moss again but more appropriate species such as flame or spiky/erect moss.

Over the past weekend I took out the singapore moss carpet which was infested with bladderwort and redid it with some Flame moss. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll have a nice lush carpet again.

I want rocks like that... I wonder what's the biggest rock I can safely put in my tank. I would like to get a biga$$ 50cm+ rock and chuck it right in the middle of my tank with lotsa smaller rocks around it. That makes bigger fish look better in a tank IMO...

I've seen this done before, it looks awesome. Just get a thick piece of polystyrene 30mm or so to place the centre piece on. Also make sure the rock doesn't have any sharp points that will penetrate the poly.
    Thanks for the complement Jimmy.

The flame moss has grown in nice a full and the java fern has been trimmed back a bit. My pygmy gouramies keep hiding though :(

    Looking great there Boebie.

Make sure that you keep trimming that flame moss or
it will grow so thick on top that the bottom starts suffering.

Thanks Vis, do you reckon I should trim it back to about 20mm?

I've got some white clouds in my unheated paludarium on the right.

    @boebie

Yes 2cm sounds fine, and everything would still get light.
Even if you do it every now and again.

@Vis, thanks dude. Do they go brown from the bottom? I haven't experienced any dying out yet and its about 60mm tall in places. I will trim it just to keep it neater.
It's actually swaying gently due to the tiny powerhead which actually looks quite cool.

If its really thick yes but not as easily as other mosses though.
The bottom almost seems to thin out as it tries to get to the light on top.

really nice dude. moss looks nice and lush but have to agree with Vis there, you need to trim that moss back or the bottom with just start browning and dying.

I love the clean lines of this tank, and imho the crisp contrast of the lush green with the dark rocks is STUNNING!
Well done, dude! Oh, please will you post pics of your paludarium for us too?

Unfortunately my paludarium is not in a pic friendly state. It has sprung a leak, luckly into the 'land area'. I had to remove the plants due to it being water logged. Only some peace-in-the-home and a love palm in there now and some java fern in the water.

Thanks for the compliments and criticisms everyone :).
