I saw some Blue Rams at our LFS today...I am quite keen to add a pair to this tank...although I did read they need quite a mature tank to survive...no time lines on mature tank though? Anyone know how they would do with the micro rasbora species...will they see them as an all you can eat buffet?
Managed to get a power supply for the tanks cooling fan, and it's working nicely now. Interested to see how much it actually helps in cooling the tank now.
I hope so, will see how the temp is this evening after it being on the whole day today with a temp of 30 degrees outside. :O
Could this be Neon Tetra Disease? Was reading a thread on here and symptoms made me think back to this glow light of mine...he's been like this for over a week now...thought maybe it was just an injury...now I'm concerned though. http://rs388.pbsrc.com/albums/oo324/kunhardt/Mobile%20Uploads/image_7.jpeg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip http://rs388.pbsrc.com/albums/oo324/kunhardt/Mobile%20Uploads/image_6.jpeg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip
Seems I made a mistake with photobucket using my phone...here are the pics again.. Not the clearest pics unfortunately. :/
No clue had something very similar on those guppies I got for the comp ... could not save them sometimes only the fittest need to survive. BTW what was the tank temps ? Later Ferdie
Tank temp seems to have stabilized at 26 degrees since I got the fan working...it was over 30 last weekend so it has definitely helped. no more fish losses either since last weekend, but Galaxy rasbora numbers have dropped from 20 to only 6...lost 3/4 of them that weekend.
Did a water change this morning and tank is looking good. No CO2 attached at the moment...the trigger valve of the cylinder sprung a leak...seems this is a common occurrence as they should not stay in the open position indefinitely. Lucky I have managed to source a wheel valve and the company that sold me the cylinder will do the conversion for me once it arrives next week. Took some pictures afterwards of the newly added Electric Blue Rams...love the little guys they have so much character. I removed the Siamese fighter during the week and returned him to my LFS. I and am also thinking of maybe trying to catch out the last 6 Galaxy Rasbora's and moving them over to the office tank with the other micro fish...then possibly looking at some slightly larger fish to finish off this setup.
Caught all the remaining rasbora tonight after lights out. Housing them in a fish breeder overnight and will probably take them through to my office and put them in that tank tomorrow.
The Galaxy Rasboras have been dropped off...hope they happy in their new tank surrounded by others of their kind and size.
Thinking of taking the tank apart and rescaping, I'm just not happy with the layout anymore...I've learnt a lot about fresh water scaping compared with marine scaping since starting it up and also about the different plants and their best placements in the tank...so a redo may be for the best...
Got some Glosso and Blyxa coming in this week so will take some time this weekend to adjust things with the tank a bit. Also all going according to plan have all of this arriving some time in the coming days...
Thanks mate! At the moment my current livestock are 3x Panda Cory 1x Siamese Algae Eater 3x Ottocinclus 4x Sparkling Gouramis 6x Glow Light Tetras 2x Electric Blue Rams There are possibly a couple of Dwarf Rasbora's still in the tank...they are very secretive and are rarely seen as is...but with the heat wave a couple of weekends ago I lost three quarters of my Galaxy Rasbora's in the tank so may have lost some of them too as I havent really seen them since then. There are also 1 or 2 wild blue shrimps in the tank.
