Hi. Have you added any new fish? Did you do any thing different? Does the water have a bad smell?

First establish whether it is an algae bloom or bacterial bloom - read the thread started by MarcVanJ on Cloudy Water - cannot figure it out. Just follow the steps that Zoom gave. I had the same problem a few weeks back. using a blanket to cut off all light and adding purigen thereafter sorted my tank out in a week. Good luck

Yes you can add purigen to your canister get the purigen that already comes in its own bag much better.

You could also get some Seachem Clarity and add more filter floss. these two products combined will hopefully sort out your issue.

Just make sure all your water parameters are fine.

oky i did change on saturday, i tested my water today and got the following readings:
Ammonia 0.2-05.5 (Think it is because i over fed two times this week:wondering:)
    Nitrites 0 (Awesome)
Nitrates: Higher than 50ppm, From the colour chart im guessing 70-80 ppm(WHAT??????)

Add another EX1200, and you can add even more fish. The more filtration (bacteria) the more fish

You need to be concerned about that Ammonia reading. If it doesn't come down, you are going have some fish dying. Nitrate is a by-product of when Nitrite is broken down by your filter bacteria. Sort out the Nitrates with WC's. I am assuming your Nitrate levels are high due to the Ammonia. Possible causes: Overfeeding, Dead fish, Dirty substrate, NTS (No Filter bacteria due to lack of oxygen etc.)

Do you have plants, plants consume Nitrates

i have two airstones, 2 internal 500/l/h each pumps and the canister running. i will do a gravel vacuum tomorrow, i changed water about 50% to knock the ammonia and nitrates.
Tell me will activated carbon help to clear up the water? can i put that in my canister? Everything was balanced and now it's crashing again!!!

It normally takes any new fish 3-4 days to come out of their shell in a new tank, I noticed this a few times.

Some bristlenoses are insanely shy and others not. My albino BN is always out and sucking his way around the tank, but my female BN and my male starlight BN hide constantly while the lights are on.

Remember plecos are actually nocturnal fish, give him time he might eventually come out. Have you given him some boiled baby marrows they love the stuff this might get him out in the open.

Boil baby marrows for about 5 min or until soft and then cut in half and throw it in for him.
