hey @razor2007 i think it could be getting damaged as you planting it. i had a nice bush of this one in my tank a while ago and when i removed it i only had 3stems that were actually in the subs and there was this large root mass under the leaf canopy that it created. so just watch that you don’t pinch or put too much pressure on the stem while planting. i solved this problem with a nice pair on planting tweezers.

Thanks @Vez, @Wyvren. The substrate might be too fine but all the other plants seem fine except the sword which is because of deficiencies. Strange is that it's only the 1 stem doing it.

I don't does ferts yet but will get some of Dirk's or Microbe-lift products soon.

BTW - dont worry about the Sword leaf - it is a emersed leaf - would die back anyway - you will notice that the new leaves being formed has a vastly different growth form - theseare the submerged ones - if they start looking like the old leaf,THEN you have a nutrient deficiency...

I will be in contact with him soon about some products but I'm thinking of asking @Henk Hugo about the Microbe-Lift products and what he uses in his tank because his tap water should be the same as mine.

I got some goodies. The whole range of Microbe-lift ferts (Thanks again dude @Henk Hugo) and a whole lot of plants. Again from Henk.

I am still in the process of sorting out new lights and it seems like I blew the ballast :\

But here's some pics of the tank now. The light isn't sufficient now but it'll be fixed soon. (PS: my screen's color is wasted so sorry in advance if the colors are a bit off)

Can somebody please tell me how to see if my fish are happy?

there fins are erect. there colour is vigorous. they breedif possible. they run to front of the tank when you approach and always seemhungry (this is only for the non-shy species) they eat vigorously and are quiteactive not lethargic.

    nice tank BTW

Also, if they eat, they are generally happy. One of the first signs of unhappy fish, is when they stop eating.

Nice looking tank dude! It should grow and fill in nicely!

a pleco is a nice addition to the tank but get too big. I'm not sure if you get smaller varieties? Mine isn't very active and I don't think it is doing such a good job cleaning. My Garra taeniata is much nicer.

This is the second time it has happened. But the other one (too small to say if male/female) isn't fertilizing the eggs so it's a hopeless case.
