It's called TTTS (Tank Time Travel Syndrome)

Most fish-keepers have experienced it

Yeah. Don't know how much tannins these release.

@DoubleDutch please could you help, you seem to be the cory expert. I ordered 7 panda corys, which arrived at the lfs on Thursday last week. I wanted to give them a few days to recover from shipping so picked them up on Sunday. Only 5 of the 7 were alive by then. Tiny, about 2cm max probably slightly smaller.

Took them home, drip acclimatised and released in my 180L planted tank (peaceful inhabitants). Temp 26, pH 6,7, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10. Pfs and aquasoil, with dragonstone.

Today I found 2 dead, one in bad shape (tail damaged, lethargic), one looking fine, one missing.

Where did I go wrong? Sorry to be such a bother. I had my heart set on them and it makes me sad that they haven’t been thriving in my tank.

There is something going on in Pandas lately and probably caused by overbreeding and bad stock. Lots are kept under bad conditions at the wholesalers amd during transport and even fed thenwrong diet. So don't blame yourself.

    Temperature could a little lower.
Try frequent waterchanges and if available use Melafix, which seems to help Corys adapting.

    Keep us informed.

A lot of issues with Pandas on the American and Brittish forums I am on.

@DoubleDutch thank you, much appreciated. Thinking I should perhaps go with Sterbai, they should handle 26C better? Any other suggestions?

Yeah or the "common" C.aeneus (one of the colortypes). Don't know what others are available.

There are cases known of selfpoisoning, but mainly C.sterbai and killing all in a bag.

Indeed a lot of Corys can sting, but it is very rare (stresssituations)

I guess I got lucky. Mine were used to being handled so moving them to a new home wasn't an issue. I was worried about that but turned out they all are fine, more than a year later.

Love the color of your cories. I have 5 peppered cories. Diet consists of frozen blood worm, tetramin flakes and tetra colour up hard flakes. What do you feed your Bronzies?
