    @Marco - Looking really good.

As I mentioned before, I think those very dark fish would look stunning with red eyes.
Is there any way of " adding" that trait??

    Lol this could work

    @Reedfish,

Dark - as well as Blue Knights already have Red eyes.
The problem is that because of the head area being totally black, this spills over to the eye - and it therefore overpowers the red.

If you look at a normal blue ram, you can see that the bar that runs across the eye, also leaves a black band in the red of the eye. With the Knight lines this band is effectively wider and therefore totally overpowers the red.

What would solve this is a gene mutation that removes the black bar from the eye. In Angels we had it with the Blushing (Ghost) gene, and also in Discus with Ghost as well as Golden gene.

Until this happens in Rams, and considering its ability to express with other genes - I dont think its possible to maintain both the black body and red eyes.

    Hi @Smittied,

No real updates at the moment worth making a fuss over.

I am working on consolidating a few Ram lines, refining and developing the Dark - and Blue Knight lines, and also working on 2 other possible colour morphs. But they will both take a long time, if at all possible. So it really is just day to day stuff.
Hopefully soon I have some Discus babies, although Pretoria water makes it very hard to breed anything at the moment.

Thank you very much, I am glad that you are happy with them. The colour on this line of EB Ram should be phenomenal. Shape maybe not so great yet, but as for colour they should really be up there with the best.
Next batch I hope to get the shape improved which should offer near perfect Electric Blues

    Hi @Discusnut,

Want to try breed some Xingu first, and then see what I can achieve with wild caught males X to some Red Turks from Piwo

My display tank is on casters so I can roll it into the sun in the morning. Check the ram's colour in sunlight:

Hi @Marco I came across your wonderful thread and all your amazing ram strains and am in awe! They are truly beautiful! I just wondered if you supply anyone in the UK as I'd love to have some. I was lucky enough to find someone in the UK who had some Black Rams but sadly two of the three blacks I reseved, got sold before I managed to get to the shop. I would love to get some more but I don't know where to start in the UK.

Very much hoping you have a supplier as I'm wanting them even more now I've seen yours!

+1 To all the compliments, super nice rams, the lot of them.

I've told a couple LFS in CT to get in touch with you @Marco - not sure if any have? I'd love to get a Dark Knight and am quite interested to see how the other lines develop. Any black rams I see on Instagram abroad usually don't compare - I think you're ahead of the game still.

I've not seen many high quality golden rams locally. I read they are a natural colour morph which I guess is a good thing too. I've seen some incredible ones abroad with red noses that fade yellow toward the back.
Same story for Bolivians - they're not as 'pretty' but still can be very impressive from what I've seen online. I have one in my tank and its slightly different nature among its GBR cousins is fun to witness.
Also worth a go at some point maybe, if your rams end up being the definitive source?

Dicrossus from a while back also amazing - I'd buy in a flash if I could.

Anyways, keep at it, you seem to breed the best rams around, and the discus too are stunning. Will get into those when I have a suitable tank one day.
Also wanted to ask - do your rams ever get sick? Or from your own community tank experience with them, are there any recommended tips/ brands? I've lost a few rams over the past year and a half and it seems unless you identify and treat a problem very early, they're toast.
Makes me curious as to how resilient your parasite free guys are.
In general I make sure to keep water quality very good, but a ram has sometimes just died with no explanation- I'm assuming its poor genetics.

    Very nice Adrian.
Its the first time I worked on my own line of Electric Blues. I am quite happy with their colour, and their shape is not bad at all.
They look very pretty in your tank

    Hi @DeniseF,

I do not supply to anyone in the UK unfortunately.
A lot of red tape is involved in order to ship to the UK, and although a few dealers have contacted me, most want a few pairs only in order to breed them. This is hardly worth the effort for me, and they are not willing to accomodate by increasing numbers.
    So its a catch22

    Sorry

    Hi @Cale24,

Thank you very much for the kind words and compliments.
I think the main reason my Dark knights are solid black is because I am not numbers driven. I took my time to understand the genetics and have selected and focused on specifics, instead of focusing on numbers.
    But I speculate

I have a line of Orange head Goldens
I am trying to still improve on them, and I'm currently working on seeing how other features of the 'Dark gene' will impact on the Golden line.
As to them being a "natural" line, they are a Xantochromic mutation from wild type. How natural that is, is up for debate. They are quite striking and in the near fiture I plan and hope to qork quite a bit with them

As for Bolivians, they have never appealed to me.

Others would have to comment on my Rams toughness. I have never had any complaints though. In general they are robust, grow to a nice size and are generally problem free and easy to keep.
Dark knights were a bit weak in the 1st generation, but I seem to have bred out that weakness, as the losses I suffered with Gen1 now no longer occur, and survival rates are on par with all the other types I breed.

No shops from CT has ever contacted me in connection with Rams no. But I can ship you some so if you are interested, you are welcome to let me know.

    Best regards

    Marco

    Hi Marco

Please do let me know what quantities work for you - although this may be something for the future I would be interested to know numbers that make it interesting in case I can float some interest out there to consolidate at some time. I am new to this forum but if you can message me when you have time I would appreciate it. Cheers

Ok great, look forward to seeing the developments on the Golden lines (and others).

Will DM you as to getting some of your rams to CT in the new year, thanks.

    Cheers
