Besides the expo having 40+ members at one place talking fish and stuff would be great.

Yes it is in the Emperors complex. Actually there are many. Check out here.

Perhaps the mods could put up a pole for those wanting to attend.

What about a formal thing on the Friday at a conservative place and a jol on the Saturday at say HOOTERS for the younger people.

@Mods can this be done? please.

I would rather go for a bring your own take away, sit on the grass and chat.

Most places they play the music so hard you need to yell at everybody. Tables make the seating a bit static. O and where do you find a place that can seat 30 odd people close to each other.

Your spot in Witbank is a bit far for us to travel Bud. :)

Lets have a show of hands who wants what.

Instead of maintaining the divide between the MASA and TASA.... why doesnt TASA and MASA COMBINE their dinner!

Surely TASA members are civilized enough to entertain a MASA member? Surely MASA members can teach us TASA members a thing or two? Or Visa Verse.

Unfortunately I'm gonna sit this dinner out. My wife has been kind enough to agree to a day trip out to the expo on the Saturday (with baby tagging along), however the dinner will make the day exceptionally long, and I don't really want to be travelling that way out at night.

    @Rory and @Zebra Pleco
You guys are obviously in connection with the organisers of the event. Another thought is to possibly have a meal catered for a TASA/MASA dinner at the actual event in one of the banqueting halls.

We've never considered MASA before, why start now??? - LOL

    Agreed.
This gets my vote. Not sure if Emperors has a sit on the grass spot, though? We'll have to find out.

Oh - That is a good idea - possibly a lunch on the Saturday, Zoom, then you can be there as well.

Guys I dont want to speak Ill of a place but the Queen on the Nile last time we were there was absolutly crap, bad service shocking food...
The Picnic is the the way forward...

but I am not happy to see that there is not much happening in our fields, I would have like to see an aqua scaping contest, or best fish show or something along those lines...

Nice idea... but keep in mind the logistics of this. An aquascape takes months to achieve, (just watch bronwyn....) and the expo announcement came too late for this type of set up.

By the same token, let's say we have a few people there with tanks of fish... in my honest opinion, I will frown upon it.. why... because I KNOW that tank was set up on Thursday, and fish thrown in on Friday. Where's the cycling gone? And Marine will be even WORSE... I've heard horror story's of people needing to cycle their water for months.

I do believe Moolis was looking at trying move his competion from the dog and cat show to come to this one.

hmmmm... @Zoom I hear ya, the logisitcs on any sort of event like this would be a nightmare all I could think is that, the try and take as much of thier cycled water and keep the filters alive some how...

but it does get done at other events around the world so hey why not here... lol

I don't see setting up a tank for a few days a problem. Fresh water with some zeolite or something to remove all the nasty's should be Ok for a 3 days.

The filter is cycled not the tank. As long as you put a mature filter on the tank, it will be fine.

Or maybe an aquascape contest where contestants get the same plants, decorations and equipment.

True aquascaping contests do not have any live animals in the tanks, as it distracts from the aquascape.
