Understandably so. I'm sure that one small nail per plant would be a good thing though.
I don't trust all these ferts to be honest. Really need to place an order with Prof. Dirk for his special druppels.

Yip, I'd use smaller nails (less surface area) and they can be advantagous as they add Iron through the substrate, where as column ferts only add to the water, and not the substrate!!

I personally don't use them, but have no problem with people who do!!

    Cheers
    G!

One word of advice on the nails.... Hit the sharp end with a hammer to blunt them!! Last thing you want is to stab yourself or impale a fish on the end!! Safety First!!

    G!

What?? Your Gran owned her own house?? Or she had a fish room in the house she owned??

    G!

ooh yes definitely, thanks for reminding me about that! I probably would not have thought to blunt the nails :(

LOL my Gran had a fish room in the house she used to live in. I never got to see it as my aunt was an absolute nasty and decided to sell it all. But from what my mom's told me, she used to breed siamese fighters, and she had all sorts of interesting fish such as the elephant nose, ghost knife fish, butterfly fish and so on.

The nail tip I got from Prof Dirk, and he (and I ) will not ill advice anyone!
The normal carpenter nails that they use on roof-wood works fine! The large 3 to 6 inch nails have blunt tips. Stay clear from galvanized, Brass and Copper nails!
Believe me (and Prof.), this is advice that is as old as nails! (as it is in other forums too!)
I also use nails and screws to hold the babymarrow etc. down for plecos and brisstlenoses.
    Enough said!

No stress McAnix. We all make wierdo's out of ourselves once in a while. That's why we are all in this hobby. One wierdo supporting another!

hehe yeah I love a Kuhli loach too, can't wait to get more, but they'll have to wait till after the new tank has been setup etc.

Oh yes, I kinda forget to tell you what all is in the tank :p

    Tank Specs:
    80l tank (think its 570 x 350 x 460 if I'm not mistaken... can't find my measurements now)

Light (both T8): 1x 15W Plant Grolux (something like that)
1x 15W blue light (for marine and freshwater)

CO2: none... using Seachem Flourish Excel

Plant food = it's called "Plant Food" need some of Prof. Dirks druppels though

    Fishies ^^,
    2 x Kuhli Loach (need 4 more)
1 x Blue & Red Betta (got him on Saturday, will take pics this evening)
Too many guppies (gave the 3 mommies to the LFS on Saturday, and got the Betta in exchange) Going to keep the males, and one female... she'll be in a tank of her own soon though.
3 x Danios (one died and I'm not interested in getting more... these belong to my other half LOL trying to get rid of them too, but he's not happy about that)

    Plants
erm... erm... I don't know what they're called :wondering:
I know I have an Amazon Sword, Rotala Rotundifolia and what I think is Bacopa Caroliniana, as well as Anubias Barteri var. Nana. The moss I'm not sure of, nor am I sure of the grass or the lovely fern type plant in the corner. Anyone know what they are, please feel free to share your knowledge with me ^^,
