Lighting - VERY CONFUSED

    The sockets have been used for lighting outside about 20 years ago and I just popped them into the tank hood:p im assuming u shouldnt have a problem finding them at any hardware store here is a pic of the 10w ballast and 2x11w cfl they really boost the light in the tank no added heat and the amazon sword and vallis are growing very nicely. Its a 72l so that lighting will be sufficient. And there are no dark spots in the tank everything is well lit.

    get a blue marine light,they do very good for the plants,you might have an algea problem though...

    i'm not too sure about the lights on the side of the tank,lighting can have a big impact on your tank...good or bad.

    I'd also like to put my vote in for CFL energy savers. Make sure you get "cool white", they have a 6400k rating... And you should be able to get as high as 44watt per globe. I've even seen them for sale in Spar for about R50 a light.
