    Hi all

I am from Empangeni and just got back into fish keeping about 2 months ago. I have a 700l tank and decided to do a Amazon biotope. Will see if it lasts lol.

    Fish I have:
    Golden pencil fish
    Neons
    Panda corys
    Bristle nose plecos
And a few other tetra species.

I am trying to keep it to only species that come from South America so any suggestion on what more to add?

Sup all. I'm from Port Edward. Currently only have one tank, with the second on the way. Tank 1 - Custom built 135L. Tank 2 - 2ft 60L. (can't wait till it gets here.)

    Fish in my tank:
5 female guppies (although, I suspect 2 of them are males)
2 Tilapia (Caught in the wild by the previous owner/builder of the 135L)

Wanted to get rid of the Tilapias, but I read somewhere that they are an invasive species? Anybody know about this?

Hi, I'm from Amanzimtoti, had a 60cm back in high school with a pair of angels, but after a 10 year hiatus I now have a 90cm with basics - neons, guppies and zebra danios. Looking to improve my experience and skill level so that I can keep discus in a large planted tank in a few years time..

Morning ig11. I'm not very clued up on the Durban LFS's, but I do know that there is one in Pinetown. Just off of Old Main Road. And I believe there is one in Springfield Park. Not sure about it. Will mail my mates that side and get back to you.

The one in Springfield Park is called Northlands Pets, they're next to the value centre near Makro, above a Tiger Wheel and Tyre.. They're pretty big, but their marine stuff is better than their tropical stuff.. There is also apparently a good lfs called Durban Pets and Aquarium, which is a little closer to the train station, but I haven't been there myself, so I don't know how good they are.

Just looked back at this thread, saw you're also interested in lps's north of Durban.. There's one in Gateway which is very small but had some interesting fish (Julie's Pets), there's one in a centre called the Crescent, which is very close to Gateway, called Petland.. They're a decent size, but they sell dyed fish and seem to be more interested in making the sale rather than giving good advice.. Apparently there's also one in Durban North at the southern end of Umhlanga Rocks drive, but i don't know what it's name is or how good it is, I've just had a friend tell me about it..

Yes RoGe, Julies is not bad but quite small. Natures Petland in the crescent are kak and as you described, only interested in the sale. The 3rd shop at the southern end of umhlanga rocks drive is called Euro Spirit and is the best of the 3.

So we went to Durban on Saturday to visit a few fish shops. But only got so far as Nothlands. They have stunning fish! On our way to find Euro Spirit an idiot smashed into our car and we all had to go to hospital. This is our poor car ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421646548.199643.jpg

We are all okay but my husband is till in hospital. We got a trip back from Durban in an ambulance.
