 go for it, i am really enjoying Manado, the black soil/sand does get a bit boring since most people are using it nice to change it up, different look

Yep, I can do with a colour change. I used to do planted tanks in river sand. It's much dirtier than PFS, but I find it has such a nice attractive look.

Oh good old river sand , my very first planted tank was riversand, it took like a month to clear up even after washing it , but it did look so natural

algae update , most of the staghorn algae is gone, but there is green string algae developing, trying to sort that out any ideas?

    Beautiful!
String algae - have you tried twisting it off with a (new) toothbrush?

just a pic of how this tank is doing after a trim, the Hydro cotyle took over the tank, thinking of moving the moss from the middle, the tank looks like it has a dark hole in the middle of it , still using JBL Pro-Flora System

    Looks great @Nirvashen

Personally I think the darkness creates depth and intrigue, and as the pinnatifida in front of it grows out it will break up the shadow a bit? Perhaps move the buce (?) that’s in the shade forward a bit into the light.

You could use small anubias eg bonsai in that shady spot, they’ll probably love it and it will bring some detail there? Or susswassertang, hardly needs light.
