Once you have the strain settled I won't mind a few Virgin females.

Looking forward to see he what dominance the body colour of the male is going to have over the grey? and gold/yellow? bodied females. I do have some pure Endlers with one female being a blond - she is giving only grey coloured offspring.

Good luck with the breeding and reaching your goal.

This is what my current set-up looks like. The 2 x 2 ft on the left is the breading tanks with 1 male and 2 females in. 1,5ft at the bottom right is my growout tank. And the 2 x 1ft top right is for keeping the males and females appart. This is outside so I have a heater in each tank to prevent the temps from going belowe 20. The heat we currently have in Pretoria is something else as the tanks go up to 29 during the day.[IMG]

Here is the 2 breading tanks. Top one has the gold females. There is also a pair of bristle nose ansistrus and rcs in there with them. The bottom one has a diy 100l sump at the back so water volume is roughly the same as other 2ft. In this tank there is only a confused siamise algae eater, not inyerested ineating any algae, and wilde form neocardinia shrimp.[IMG]

Side view of the pallet stand with growout and holding tanks. Still some more sparce for at least 2 x 1ft on here.[IMG]

When did you separate the male and female?

Took the male out of the tank shortly before the last drop. About 40 days ago.

Then you might have another 2 to 3 drops before she is clean.

I never keep a male with a female longer then 2 days. If its a Virgin female you sometimes only get 2 drops before she is clean again.

Six days later and 'n removed the breeding males from the bordello and returned them to the batchelors pad. Looks like they did their work. I'm only wondering if the one femal in the moss tank might have been too young for breading. Only time will tell.

Interesting to note that out of tha last baches of fry that the origanal femal delivered there is a nice new line developing. All the males have their fathers destinctive orange on the tail but showing a black bar on their sides and there are no more colourfull fry showing up. If you look at the post of the runt tank, second photo, the male with the orange, black and lime markings. This male is on his way to @finatic as well as some of of the other males and females. Waiting for your entry now
Here is a foto of the males showing the black bar.

No genius but here is an observation I made while breeding this year.
My female carried the "wild type gene" but it does not show.
Any fry from her looks just like the male you made the cross with.
If you breed any of those fry back to her they all come out looking like a wild type guppy.

It's a very dominant gene, you will need to be carefully if you are linebreeding

Thanks @Vis. No plans yet on using here further in this challange. It is just very interesting that out of here first 2 drops there were a lot of colourfull endlers. But all the ones in the photo is from later on.
