@snail depends what the noise is like?

When I got my first fluval was also concerned with the light humming noise which is normal in my opinion!

Is it like that or abit of a knocking noise?

 

sort of a clicking noise, but yet its a brand new impeller so i dont know why it's doing that, and the shaft is fine, so what else could it be?

 

I know mostly on my aquaclear 300 when it makes a ticking noise it is the impeller not running smoothly\off balance abit, I normally just switch the filter on and off a few times in 5-10 second splits and it comes right or i play around with the impeller using my finger and it comes right.

Also could be abit of air in the canister that has not come out completely!

I also know some people put abit of vaseline or similar on the shaft to have it run smooth, i havent tried this!

 

if i leave the well cover off and switch it on, and watch the impeller spin, it looks like every now and then the impeller gets stuck (like for a millisecond.....It's so fast you can hardly see a single fan blade), i will try and put some Vaseline on the shaft and see how it goes.

 

So ive got it up and running on a test setup again now, and i have plugged and unplugged it several times, but it's still making that irritating rattling noise. Should i be worried about it as the pump is pushing water out at a high flow rate (which it should)?

 

I once had a noisy filter and i just shook it a few times and tilt it at every angle....if you lucky you will get rid of some air trapped inside.

 

no air trapped inside, kept on shaking it and there is nothing!

Guys, im really worried about the impeller.....that it is making a noise. Im worried that this new impeller will get stripped like the old 1 if everything is not 100% right, or am i just over-reacting?
