Yes, sorry I thought I had the attachment in. The one on the right is a sandstone, but holding the sand grains together it looks to be carbonate. I am going on how the rock has weathered with pitting and that grain standing out. This type of rock is common along the coast at places like Diaz Cross. It is difficult to tell from a picture but I bet you it fizzels if you put acid on it. Given how you are battling with high pH that rock caught my geologist eye.

I will get her a nice male soon, have my eyes on one, maybe this weekend. @Biggles our ph is standard 7.6 - 7.8 , but ill remove this rock if it might be a problem, dont like them, they give of such weird fluffy stuff, so that will be gone soon. Will the rams and guppies work with co2?

They will be fine as long as you don't over do the co2 and gas your fish! Get a co2 drop checker to keep an eye.

Yes , ill get all the small stuff. Cant wait, this is gonna be awsome. then maybe next year a bigger tank aswell. The male looks nice in George, bit agresive but she is agresive aswell, so perfect match. He looks a bit more golden the she does. But ill do a waterchange and clean gravel this weekend before he arives

Yeah I'll probably pay R90 or I have to take them right after they get there and they'll cost R50 as I'm only paying for the fish and shipping not for quarantine feeding, wc and what not.

Shoe, klink my jou lps is vol nonsens, my lps, wel in george, he kept 2 jumbo males for more than a week, i only took one of them, didnt have to pay for the quarintine and all that stuff. But R50 isnt that bad , ill try to get the male for cheaper. But i might just have top get another 100L tank to test the co2 in. Dont want to testit in their tank. Can get a 100L with canopy for R350 2nd hand, but have no place left, also have a say 30L i could test it in , but ill jsut have to wait and see....

GBR like very acidic waters. 5-6 pH. That is possibly why she was not a happy camper, until she acclimatized. If the rock is giving of fluffy stuff it is almost certainly not inert. Remove the rock without changing anything see what happens to your pH.

Hi @Marius Swart, your Ram looks so beautiful! Makes me miss mine...

I've been following this thread and wanted to +1 what @Marco has said about Rams. GBR are extremely picky when it comes to water conditions and even more so, to inconsistent water conditions. I had 2 pairs of GBR some time ago in my Angel tank. That tank had a stable pH of 5 and all the fish thrived in there (GBR's, Angels, Cardinal tetra's & Cory's).

I read that you have added salt to the tank. Are monitoring the saline levels of the water at all with a refractometer? Also, be very careful of placing random rocks into your tank. Certain rocks are high in calcium and will definitely raise your pH and have an effect on the buffering capability of your water (similar effects as coral chips). One rudimentary way to check whether a rock will react with you water is to pour a little vinegar over it. If it fizzes, don't use it.

    Just my 2cents:p

I will remember thanks @K.C , I removed all rocks, will ship dragon rock from capetown soon. @hazelbag , post some pics ,I believe this female is special, I havnt seen one that's so bright in colour, today she is very dark and energetic, poor female guppie(large) keeps getting bothered by her . Also many fry in the tank, I think then ram is taking one day by day and not all at once :suspicious:
