Thanks @Pierré Schoonraad , I have no choice but to agree with you ;)

Ja look this was fun ... I really like the akadama as a planting substrate - well is holds things very well. Canister is running now will do the top up later today.

Thanks @Ladysphinx , I am pleased as chips. fish seem happy - did not realize I had so many fish in this tank still. They seem to have done OK with the inplace rescape.

Looking good Ferdie. I like the diy filter. Those are so effective to polish the water

Thanks Clappies Bakkies - yep them water polishers are a must esp if you do rescapes without removing your fish.

@Ladysphinx - yeah happy to report back that I have lost several hours this weekend just gazing at the tank.

Toying with the idea of a dark background again ..

think a dark background will look sweet and give nice contrast to the tank.

On the akadama substrate, will be interesting to see how it works, had a look at a fev articles with positive feedback looks like it has good cec and its aesthetically pleasing.

Once everything clears up and things get settled I think it is going to be stunning.
I have something similar to NOT look forward to, once the plants I ordered arrive.
First thing however, is trying to deal with a BBA outbreak again.

Increase water movement, spot treat with H2O2, some napalm, and finally ripping everything out to replace with the new plants when they arrive at the end of the week.

    Pulled this off the net....

Known methods to control black brush algae (BBA)

    • Maintain golden equilibriummost important
    • Maintenance Crew – Siamese Algae Eater and black mollies
    • Hydrogen peroxide (H202) standard store bought 3%
    • Seachem Excel (glutaraldehyde)
    • Quarantine fish and dip your plants – Dip the affected plants or decor in the 1:20 bleach solution for about 10-15 mins and then thoroughly rinse in running water.
    • Don’t buy plants from unknown sources or big box stores

Yeah for some reason this tank AFAIk ( or remember - since this was my first BIG tank) did not suffer in recent years from BBA.

Add some new stock to the tank ...

Normal viewing angle of the tank, would love to say I planned the hiding of the eheim sponge intake and the power cable branch extension, but that is pure luck.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for Buce!! how long ago did you buy them and did they still have any left?
BTW, you really are an aquatic artistic genius. Well done.
