Hi @1300wipass Heres my suggestion - go out and get a floating hydrometer. They are about R50. This will help you get the salinity for a bbs hatchery mixed correctly. Then buy some proper BBS eggs. You can contact prof. Dirk for this. The ones he supply has a hatch rate of "turns the water orange" (lol). This is going to sound very harsh but if I was in your shoes Id cull the 30 fry and try with a new batch feeding bbs etcetc. Much better chance of getting proper Juvies. Rgds Marco
Will get the floating hydrometer then thanks Marco and try and contact the Prof. Dont have the heart to cull the fry unfortunately (at the moment i think they culling themselves anyway - if you know what i mean)... I had Blue diamonds in the past that would literally lag behind in growth to an extent where i was convinced they were stunted as the ocean green siblings almost doubled in size, then after 4 - 6 months those same BD's would double in size catching up to even growth. The fry are showing some growth, but not to the general standards up to this point i guess, ill try to keep as much of my first fry alive and use them as my training Juvies and monitor what works and doesnt with there overall well being thanks for the advice though Marco Waleed
So all fry from new spawn have hatched, parents picked them off the floor and spat them onto filter sponge where they all sticking to thus far, the filter remains on though. Like i said, im not concentrating on these fry and not expecting them to make it through, but so far they have defied the odds and will prob become free swimming in the next two days...
