Inch per gallon rule only works for fishes of certain size and weight - very narrow range. Plus amount you can stock is a function of the surface area of water, rather than volume so it breaks there too. 20g long tank holds more fish then 20g tall tanks. :blink1:

    Yhbae,

I gave it a go as well... In my opinion I thought my tank is heavily UNDERSTOCKED for what I could put in, but for some reason the app said I was overstocked. I had to fiddle around and "alternate" certain of the species as they weren't all listed in the list of fish.
Meaning for the Rams I had to put in an Apisto, and even the apisto I'm getting isn't listed on the list. (APisto cacatoiud sunburt.) I also didn't find any Ancistrus... so I put them in a black widow tetra's.

As a suggestion you could look at giving an option to calculate measurements in litres and centimeters. (We in SA work on those dimensions). And you could look at expanding the filters to show pictures. I for one am not sure which Jebo Filter I have because I obviously do not have the box, and don't know which filter is really is. So in one instance I was heavily overstocked, and on the other filter option, I was understocked.

You could also expand to allow an option where we could input the amount of water changes we do, and how often.

Another interesting option would be for us to actually tell you what filter medium we have in our filters. Basically we tell you if we have sponges, bio balls, ceramic rings etc, as I am sure the type of media we have in our filters also makes a difference on the actual filtering?

    But a great app none-the-less.

    My appologies,

I saw that I can change the units to cm.
The units to litres doesn't work tho.

Could you put in the Jebo 480FC as a filter option?

If it is so obvious that it should be understocked but it isn't, it could be caused by an error on one or two species in DB. The best way is for you to list the species, how many of each, and the tank dimension. We can look at them together.

I do have German Blue Ram and Bolivian Ram. Do you have other variants of Rams? Also, there should be Ancistrus species - look for Bristlenose Pleco.

Picture could be a nice idea. One problem I can see is that I cannot use most pictures used by the manufacturer and obviously I cannot take pictures of all the filters on the list myself. Your filter does not have the model name engraved somewhere on the filter at all?

Also, stocking level is really a function of the surface area of your tank, rather than the filtration capacity - this number is calculated separately and reported separately in the app.

It is possible to do this in theory. It does suggest what would be a good water change amount though.

Yes this one is open up for debate. There are many many different media with different amount of surface area. I went with the manufacturer capacity for simplicity and I assume they will use whatever media that was provided with the package. For those who changed the media for additional filtration capacities, I'm not sure if there's easy way to handle this. Even "bioballs" can be expanded much further - not all of them are created equal. Eheim even sells different types of media that features different amount of surface areas but would still be counted as same type of media... A lot of variation to think about....

Units to L doesn't work? I would be surprised if it doesn't as many UK users are using this tool... They won't be very quiet if that feature breaks... In what way does it not work for you?

I'll add your filter to my wishlist.

    Thanks.

It still shows the filters a gUS and not giving me the option of putting in the filter in litres. I did find all the fish I was looking for. Went through the list from A - Z

That's odd. I just tried the site and clicked on "Display in Litres" and it worked fine for me. Which browser and version are you using? (I can't imagine this breaking it since I've used no fancy feature at all).

Also, try using Search feature - it will let you do sub-string search. If you type "anc" and do "Narrow Search", it will return all species whose common and scientific names contain this string. There are 22 on the list, including guys like "Fancy Goldfish"... :p

What about flipping between cm and inch - does that work on Opera?

Perfectly. Put in the cm, and it gave me the volume in gallons tho.

Not to worry too much... my cellphone has a converter, so I was ablt to determine tha my 1100lp/h filter is 290g/h

That's interesting. Those two features have near identical codes. Not sure why it works in one case and not in another. There must be a reason.

Also, did you put your flowrate into those User Defined filtration capacity boxes? If so, it will not give you the right number. Those boxes are expecting filtration capacities in either Gallons or Litres. So if you still want to use that filtration %, try dividing that number by 2.5 or so before entering it.
