    Hi Guys, There are clubs that have less to spend than Arsenal. Yet they play good football. At least motivated and with a purpose and "hunger to win". ie Everton Tottenham West Brom and a few others. Wenger did buy some Good players that played well for the first few games and then suddenly seem to loose "the plot".So maybe Wenger should go and we get a
    "new brush." We must be aware of what "we wish for" and who! There are still alot of games ahead.Surely we can win some of them and finish in the first 4 which I know it is not what we want. But to finnish any higher is doubtful, when you consider the buying power of MC and Chelsea and the astute management of MU. Newc

    Pffft, Im not going to even pretend to know what is wrong. Maybe everything about the club is wrong, management, players, coaches, philosophy. I dont know.
    Truth is, wevare now almost halfway through the season, and lots of the teams have actually played much better than expected.
    West brom will start losing now, and soon Im sure Everton and Spurs will have their bad runs also. The question is if we will be on a good run to take advantage of this.
    From the club lots of talk is coming out about spending money, and the Football pages are filled with rumours of unrest and in-fighting.
    We can only wait and see.

    Im still not convinced firing Wenger is the only/best solution here, but I am at a stage where Im beginning to think it very well could be.
    My ONLY true concern with getting rid of Wenger is who will replace him? Talk of Guardiola does not excite me. Yes he achieved wonders at Barcelona, but so would any other manager! To me he is an unproven entity, and that scares me. Borussias Jurgen Klopp (@Reedfish - you have mentioned him) could well be a good replacement, but again, Germany is not England, and he has an excellent team but now seem to struggle with them in the league.

    I dont know! But if we dont win the matches in december, we are screwed, thats it - I dont see us finishing in top four unless we get through this mths schedule with max points

    @Marco, @Newc,

    I see the situation as follows:
    Wenger comes to Arsenal, many years ago. And he brings his new ideas, new methods etc.
    And so for the first half of his tenure or so, we are a relatively successful club.

    Then Mr Abramovitch comes to Chelsea with his billions, and buys any player he can get his hands on to. Same at City, and to a degree, same at United. The spend on players, and the spend on wages.
    The Arsenal Board, and Wenger, decide, no, we won't go that route, we are not going to spend spend spend. Our method works anyway. And what happens, we get left behind. The old methodology and approach were outclassed by the clubs that spend.

    So here we are at a crossroads.
    Option 1) We can stick with Wenger, and bumble along as we are. Losing matches we should be winning. Hoping to scrape 4th by the end of the season.
    Option 2) we can bring in a new manager, who will hopefully insist on new coaches and will spend money on decent players.
    And hopefully bring some trophies.
    To me the choice is a "no brainer"

    i dont see why arsenal is lax about spending they really do have the money that they could spend... and their is a ton of talent just waiting to be developed , they really should just get a new manager...

    Why can't we play like this every time??
    They look sharp, look hungry. Organised! Almost a different team!

    Well despite a couple of 2nd half lapses, overall, not a bad performance.
    Something to build on.

    @Marco,

    My son heard that there was a football match on in Cape Town (the international between SA and Norway) and asked me if I could take him. The stadium is not far from where we are staying so I decided to take him.
    Quite a different atmosphere to a premiership match!
    We both enjoyed it, but the quality of football wasn't great. SA had some good chances, but the finishing was poor.

    Hi @Reedfish

    Only now saw you guys went to a game whilst here. Yeh for sure, SA matches are quite unique. Ive never been to a EPL of course, but Ive gone to Loftus for a few local Premier league matches, its way out there.

    I didnt watch the game. I refuse to watch any Arsenal games. Its my small boycot of the poor condition of our club.
    Its halfway through the season and we are like 18 points adrift. Its just pathetic. I also read more Wenger rubbish about Diaby being another signing. . . Sigh, He'll probably last two games.
    Also saw the part that he doesnt reckon he will sign anyone, as there is no "exceptional" players available? But we just sent 2 of the once touted "exceptional" players out on loan, and Chelsea signed BA for £7mil. Im not suggesting he is exceptional, but he is better than Chamakh!

    I just laugh at the insane rumours about. Wenger signing Casillas? What rubbish! Even if Casillas cost only £2M Wenger wont sign him, it might just stem Sczesneys development, or heaven forbid, Mannones possible extraordinary rise to world class.
    I have always been supportive of Wenger,and I still wouldnt want him sacked, as I honestly dont think we can get better. But this type of rubbish im really sick of. Its just lies lies lies. Yesterday he said Fabregas might return!!!!
    For what?
    Im not an expert on football, like Wenger is supposed to be - but firstly even I can see the midfield setup aint working, and neither is his 4-2-3-1 formation. I honestly feel we will be better off just playing 4-4-2 with the players we have. None of this makes any sense to me.

    @Relborg,
    Sorry we couldn't oblige :evil:

    @Marco,
    Well you know my thoughts.
    Not going to repeat them here again.

    I don't bother to look on the website to see who we are signing. When the player runs onto the field, that is when I believe it.

    @Infected Mushroom,

    I was at the Norway match. SA had many good chances in front of goal, but couldn't convert any of them.

    Hi all

    Noticed this thread pop up - am new to the forum - and am a keen Spurs supporter.

    We had a decent run over the holiday period up until the game on Saturday - I was a little disappointed we couldn't put a goal in against QPR.

    Great games yesterday - good fight back from 10 man Arsenal against City in the 2nd half.

    By the way - I work with an Arsenal, Liverpool and a United fan - so you can imagine what happens in our offices on Mondays.

    As for our local footie - well - I wish I could be more positive about it, but its not easy.....
