   Heater wire is a 'resistance" wire that will generate heat that is used to cut the polystyrene while Copper wire has virtually no resistance and will only short out the psu.

   ah, ...oh duhhh stupid me
   
   but the wire is SO thin, i'm guessing the bit i have left will snap if used, it was brittle, thats why i had replaced the coil
