If I do flip both of them around, the base of the spiderwood could also assist in supporting the substrate from collapsing, meaning the rock could be shifted into other areas where substrate might collapse, clever idea !!
I can kind of visualise what needs to be done here. The open area underneath the wood on the left hand side was a bit of a concern to me from the beginning. I also ran out of manten stone, I have another piece but its quite big.

Things stood still a bit but the wheels are rolling again. This hobby keeps us sane!!

Here we go, attempt no.2. I kind of like this. Thanks for the suggestions. A lot more wood will be exposed now and not hidden behind any plants.

Ive got some shade in bottom left corner but I'm sure I'll be able to fit something in there that would grow.

 

All to glad I'm busy here again. Though I need to take it slow and rush nothing.

 

Thank you.. Hmm, I get congave but wanted to keep the hardscape triangle layout. Let me do what you suggested and see what it looks like. Maybe it will open up some areas because I can also see I've got to many plants for this tank

 

Ok grabbed the piece that was on the right hand side originally. This actually looks a lot better and opens the front of the tank more. Doesn't help I do the hardscape triangle layout if I plant stems at the back that won't be trimmed in a triangle.

Like this I know where I want some stems and how I'm gonna trim them. Both corners trimmed to the middle with star grass in the centre... Have you seen how nice star grass looks when you keep it relatively short?

It also opens up small crevices between the wood where some alternanthera reineckiis would look nice (forgot to me sion them in the plant list)

 

WOW .... if that scape holds once planted it is going to be epic. Planting tends to reshape the the tank .... more pics more pics please.

That looks awesome! Some Crypts in the shaded areas will go down super well. Stems in the back trimmed to follow the contour of the soil would look really neat, almost like a Filipe Oliveira scape. The centre of that spiderwood is going to be a great spot for a bunch of epiphyte plants, and having it poke out of the surface gives you some options for terrestrial plants like a tillandsia too.
