Fish room finally in sight.

No tanks as of yet. I need to get things back on track with the three that I have now. I have also made some rearrangements of where I want the tanks to be.

I am currently busy with the 150l tank, but it's gonna be a while before it gonna be filled. I don't want to rush this one.

 

Nah sorry My 4 foot tank stands will be built the same as the 3 foot stand, just to make sure they all look the same...

I can say, I might get wood soon and start building another 3 foot stand like the current one. I was thinking about 4 x 3 foot tanks. They work nicely and don't take up a huge amount of space.

I will just need to save up a little to get the electricity sorted. Im browsing around and saw canisters filters for around R2000ea. The wood is around R800 and I will see if I can get an electrician at home and see what the electrical will cost.

As for the update on the room.. It will probably happen this week once the 150l it up and running.

 

Little update on the malawi tank. Moved some rocks around due to the malawis moving sand around to create caves. One actually fell over and was leaning against the glass but luckily I spotted it early enough to make change.

I also replaced the light with a little 5 watt light with a a mix of white and blue led's. I'm super happy with the end result of this tank.



My planted tank will be added to other my other thread https://tropicalaquarium.co.za/threads/here-we-go-again.34179/ just to keep track of both planted tanks together.

 

So this happened quite quick and unexpectedly



Got 2 x 4ft tanks and another 2 x 3ft tanks. The wood for the 2 new 3 foot tanks will be delivered this week so the stand should be built this weekend. Minor changes will be made to it as I have a bit of issues with the existing 3ft rack.

As for tank setups, I got a couple of spiderwood pieces and masten stone. I'm also gonna try this new Aqua Growth soil which comes with backter kits and what all... Still need to read about that but I'll get to that at a liter stage. Got some manten stone a couple of other stuff... thanks a million to Jacques at mcmerwe.co.za for supplying the accessories.

My CO2 tank also got a bit of an upgrade... I finally got the Zetlight Lancia 2 which I'm super happy with, still confusing, but I love it!!!

 

One 4ft for rainbow fish and the other one for rams though I'm not 100% sure on them yet. I don't want to mix up the tanks so they will all be species only setups.

It will still be a while before this happen anyway so I'm not gonna rush into specifics now. I first want to get the stands etc. done and out of the way.

I'm also gonna stock up on wood and rock the next two months or so. You know how it goes when setting up tanks. The more you have the better... Not everything has to go into one tank anyway.

You guys are welcome to suggest species though if you feel like it.

 

Awesome! I did a restart of my tank over the weekend using that same soil, stone type and driftwood type. The bacteria kit is something i added while i was filling up. Each box has 6 vials, 3 of a bacteria and 3 of nutrients for the bacteria, which is basically just to kick start the bacteria build up in the soil. One thing i have noticed about the soil is that it is relatively fragile, so it might not stand up to repeated rescapes.

Thanks for the info, so in other words you are telling me once it's scaped I need to leave it and go to the next tank I have that problem of moving things around to much !!

Thanks, things are coming along now. The additional plugs to the room were done yesterday. I've never been so excited for plugs in my life I still have minor things to sort out but at least there's progress now.

 

Quick update:

After the tanks were drained and everything was removed for the guys to do the electrical the 3ft stand was lowered to 1.25m and I removed one rack. This helped to fit my canister filters under the stand and allows for more space in the room.

The malawi tank had to be rescaped as well, I will upload a photo tonight.

As for the 3ft high tech tank so to say, this is version 1 so far. Took me 4 hours to get the spiderwood in place and glued together here and there.



Some input would be appreciated on the scape. I like to shift things around and would like to plant this tank and leave it.

Substrate used: Amazonia II as a base layer to place the manten stone and covered that with Prodibio AquaGrowth soil.
