    Seachem matrix

This is what Seachem matrix look like.

Yes 250ml matrix treats 100 liters of water which will be nice with your tank.

Purigen is still the best it polishes water beyond clarity, sometimes it looks like their is NO water in my tank

"Just a last question - I have been using filtered tap water from the kitchen. The darling lady working at the small little store however told me that most filters also removes the beneficial additions from the water. Is that true and would it be better for me to use regular tap water treated with prime? What is the best way to prepare my water?"

The best and safest way is to age your water but luckily you got a smallll tank, so you obviously already have a small bucket you use for water changes.

You can place the water in the bucket the previous day and then maybe a hour or so before the time you can heat the water in the bucket with your tank heater it wont take that long, or you could get small heater for this purpose maybe. Yes you can use maybe half filtered water and half tap water.

Can you post a pic of what your filter looks like inside so we can see what else you can use in their.

This can give us an idea how we can pimp your hob filter.

Personally i would just get a bigger tank,100-200L tank can go for as little as R400 (just the tank).

    Hallo!

This is definitely my own first choice as well but I will have to have some rewiring done to get electricity to a point where I've got space for the tank. Hopefully I will have that sorted sooner than later!

That's the one that the online store sells - thanks for the picture! Visual confirmation helps a lot. Will have a look this afternoon at what the pet store has in stock and if it's not the same I will order online.

    Thank you very much!

    Fungus on my Pleco

    Hallo everyone!

    Help!!

I've noticed a dull spot on my pleco. Could this be some sort of fungus?

(I will have him moved to a bigger tank very soon but would really like to keep him alive in the interim)

    http://aquaria.co.za/shop/ - Jungle Aquatics.

They have the online store and a physical store in Fourways. A bit of a drive for me but highly convenient with door to door delivery!

    Lol! I probably would!

(then again, taking out the stove in the kitchen to set up a beautiful tank sound just about right to me! that ought to effectively get rid of some wasted space!)

I've attempted to take a picture of the filter but I'm a too short to do a proper job of it. Hope it gives you an idea though.

Jungle Aquatics (the online store you found) and Pet Stop are both sponsors. Jungle will deliver and I think delivery is free.

It's good to be vigilant but try not to panic :p unnecessarily. It's often more dangerous to treat without a diagnosis because you end up adding medication to the water and fouling up the water even more. Fungus would look fluffy. Just watch it closely and if it gets worse, then re-assess.

    Remember to breathe ;)

    Morning!

Yes, I added rid all to the water and it turned seriously green.

I haven't had any more deaths aside from the first two platies, but the fish are still glancing a bit. Feel a bit at a loss as to what else to do! :sad2:
