Fancy Goldfish Cape Town

Nice to meet you too - do you keep fancies - if so which ones. My favorite would be the ranchu then the oranda. Also what food do you feed them?

Ranchu, but prefer pearlscales (Deceased), I prefer Hikari sinking pellets (morning) and feed FBW (evening) on Saterdays I feed them boiled peas.

 

That sucks - I like peal scales too - super sensitive.Variation is key when it comes to goldfish.

I have a common, a comet and a longfin shebunkin comet. I also got 3 butterfly fantails as a "rescue" of sorts when my girlfriends grandparents gave her their 15l with them in. They all love outside with a paradise fish and 7 rosy barbs

Yeah I like it too - looks very nice. I like the look of your bronze / black goldfish and seems like calicos are becoming popular again.

 

Yea - they will grow big outside and vitamin d is excellent for their coloring !

 

Not only is it easier to maintain but it looks "clean" - thanks Mochie is a real stunner - I think he will turn black again as his parents were both black ranchu - either way I'm still mad about the lil nugget - As for the calico - a real special find as I haven't seen many around cape town stocking calico ranchu - the moment I saw Speckle I had to have her - she's got this awesome blueish tint to her - sadly my camera does not do her justice - looks better in person

 

Maybe try a thin layer of black sand, it really pops colours and a 1cm layer will be easy peasy to clean. Goldies love rooting too

It's only 150l unfortunately, need to kick the aquaponics up to clear out nitrate

 

Nice sounds like a plan - I put my plants in little glass and clay pots in the Aquarium to prevent the goldfish from uprooting them - I also Added lucky bamboo - draws out harmful substances from the water and looks cool
