I also keep discuss and angels together, and the only negative thing I have found is this:

Angels ae generally a little more hardy than discuss and if the angels have any internal disease or parasites you wont noice it until your discuss start dying :(

Other than that they sem to be perfect tank mates (at least until your discuss spawn) angels are excellent hunters :)

    Cacau Super Orange Spawn

Introduced 2 pairs of Super Orange Cacautoides into this tank yesterday evening... this morning I found one of the females with a spawn on a rock - fortunately at the front of the tank - amidst a school of angels, discus and rummies! quite interesting that they spawned in such an open spot.

the eggs though appear white so I'm not very hopefull this will hatch...

some pics of the female and the eggs..

Er, I can't see any pics bud??

Good to see they are spawning tho! Maybe she laid there from the stress of moving? I here that some fish that are full of eggs 'shed' them when disturbed?? Might explain why they are all white and in a wide open place??

Still, a good sign for the future hopefully??

    Cheers
    G!

stress...maybe maybe not - they're continuously displaying so pair formation is good which if they were stressed would rather have them swimming seperately in all parts of the tank...

Thanks Dane, Discus are challenging especially when adding CO2 to the mix in a planted tank...

few more pics of the male and pair...

    SECOND spawning within 3 Days!!!

well the second pair (actually 2nd female and dominant male) of super orange cacautoides have just spawned...quite amazing to watch.

freshly laid eggs are white and the space where she laid was very small for the male to properly position himself so lets wait and see...

think this confirms the non-stress issue...

    some pics of the spawning

Randy Buggers!! Tell them to get a room!

Your not playing Barry White music to them are you??

Yer, after finally being able to see the first lot of pics, I'd say they are pretty stress free!! Nice one matey!!

So wht kind of Caca is swimming with the other one in the last pic of the post before?? Is it the same but just with a darkened stripe??

    Cheers
    G!

thank you kindly... NB: 1st dibs on all your apistos  now that you're gone marine

no barry white music, actually I'm not trying to breed them now and have not been conditioning for breeding... just conditioned for parasites and flagellats...

the "caca" in the last pic of the previous post is not a cacautoides... he's a triple red agassizi and has 2 females for himself...

other fish of interest in this tank are the neon blue rams

Bloodworm and tetra flakes. Just can't seem to get them to stay alive. I thought they were semi-easy to keep. Water perameters are all very good, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 5. pH at 7.2. The 4 that I have left from Slagter seem to be doing very well at the moment. It's a male with 3 females, except the male is called stumpy for a reason... we believe he has a growth deformity, and hasn't grown to full size. So I won't be breeding with him.

That Aggie Tripple Red had me fooled!! When I open up the pic fully, I can see that its an aggie, but it doesn't half look Pale to me?? Is that just my imagination??

I did think that he was a weird looking Caca, but with fins as they are in that pic, and the body positioning, his mouth looked unusually big like a Caca's!! Hence the uncertainty!!

    Cheers

What brand of bloodworm are you feeding?

will take some tonight, they are slightly visible in one of 2 of the pics.

    thanks man!

    Its okay G :p

NB: all eggs eaten this morning. I'm sure not by the pair but rather by some other bugger(s) in that tank, its quite packed with all sorts of fish that swim in every level from the substrate to the surface...

well, I was not trying for them to breed so its okay...

I have no scientific evidence here but from my personal experience with using this product I have found that it is a source of either or both worms and flagellates which killed my apistos.

I subsequently de-wormed and de-flagellated :wondering: my entire live stock collection and since then they've all been fine!

I'm now importing frozen foods directly from europe and will soon have 2 brands available one of which has a special line of frozen blood worms fortified with Vitamins and with Algae... I'm doing this first for my fish and secondly to offer this product to discerning aquarists that want to protect their live stock.
