*ahem* *blush* No, no...Never! Well not me personally you understand, more like.. um... it's my daughter who names my fish. I just go along with her ideas.

BTW, before some wiseguy asks - Yes, I did name my daughter. Her name is Carol.

YES - I do - I mean I did - my first batch - but then after watching a guppy mother give birth I realized that not even a chronological numbering system was sustainable.

Lol - Rory ... the only BOB I have is a Body Opponent Bag - his name is Igor.

Naming fish is like naming the peas in your vegetable garden - sounds like a good idea until you need to eat them. - what you have never done that?

For some reason naming fish has been bad juju in our house. We used to have a pond with a couple of small fish that the cat thought were bought exclusively for her to eat. I think the third batch I said I'm not naming these they will be gone tomorrow and lo and behold they survived after a week I named them and the cat chowed them since then no fish has been named in our household

"Like whaaaat???" lol .... the peas not the fish - well not till I can get some aquaponics going hehe. Then again not sure about the canned, fried moonloght gourami concept. - Still don't give them a name.

Imagine having a show tank with 30+ neon or cardinals in there and giving each one a name

    neo001
    neo002
    neo003
    neo004
    neo005
    neo006
neo007 (this one will probably think he is a British Agent)
    neo008
    etc....

Not anymore. We named the first few fish we got & then as MTS set in, it was just too much to keep track.

We give Japanese honourifics to the fish we love the most & those ones who have been around for a long time. Our 4 year old common pleco is called Pleco-san. He's getting so big we'll have to call him Pleco-sama soon.

When we lived somewhere else, we used to have 2 large unmentionables called Papa & Mama Smurf (although I never verified their genders). They were very cool and deserving of names. I know a guy on an American forum who names all his small unmentionables...he has about 500 in various tanks. I think he is one of those crazy basement dweller types.

Haha we ARE weird. Have had the same discus and spiny eel for a few years so they most certainly have names. I have a carnivorous plant and he has a name too. Weird, see? :)

I also used to call them Fish1, fish2, fish3......etc, until I could not tell the difference between fish 3047 and fish 4011..... Nah!!.... I've never named a fish.
