2 Females and 1 male ? If so , I would recommend breading with them, I lost about 300-400 guppies a long time ago , I had 3-5 fish I started all over again , I sold well over 50 fish the last 3 months for R5 a fish and gave some fry with that for free . These fish can breed very fast , just don't bother getting new guppies , will only cause problems , parasites and so on, so if these 3 are healthy , give them a go . I could give you a few nice females since I sold all my males to try and keep them breeding at a slower rate , I have about 10+ females with 2 males , also added a atfg full black in male there . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4GGOtZmmlM
if you take a close look you will see a lot of fry , I never move them away or stress the females , works great for me

I have two males and two females. Hope this does not stress the females out.

Just check that the males wont chase the females around the entire time, like I said, enough floating plants and even they will hide if stressed from the males . You don't know anyone coming by Oudtshoorn in the near future ? Post some pics of the guppies please

For a few weeks the two males and two females have been fine, sticking together at the front of the tank. Now, for the last few days one of the males has retreated to a corner away from the others. It still joins them at feeding time. I'm just concerned about this behavior change and wonder if this guppy is also on it's way out.

I know some of my old females does this once in a while , might be stressed or something in the water ? How regular are you doing wc ?

Maybe try once a week , did you test for ammonia ? Depends where you live , then wc can be quick , like here in Oudtshoorn , I don't use dechlorinater , I use tap water straight from the tap , just heat it a bit up during winter , but I know most towns has a lot of chemicals in their water so that's a big NO NO . How is that male doing ? The tank is not situated in a position where people walks by very often as I do find some guppies find that very stressfull

Only four guppies in 50 litres of water- I would have thought very little water contamination would take place in two weeks.
I use dechlorinater to remove chlorimates. Tank in my bedroom, only I enter the room.

I now suspect that there is no problem with this male. I have just fed them and noticed that the other male kept chasing
it away from the two females. Possibly this is what is keeping it away from the others.

Makes sense , I agree with 4 guppies wont harm water in a week, but I don't know if your tank is cycled . I often skip wc with my guppies , went with over 2 months and nothing happened but I do have oversized hob on that , but now I stick with small weekly wc just to keep save . I noticed my full black guppies is very aggressive than my blue strain, males keep chasing each other and then they are pretty small still . But glad to know the fish are doing okey

Even when I feed them the aggressive male chases the other male away. If this continues then this bullied male will be leading a lonely life.

I have been keeping an eye for any signs of pregnancy, ready to place the female in my home made breeding tank.
Suddenly I found a number of fry swimming around. There seems to be only four that I can see so wonder whether
    others have been eaten.

They are about 5 mm long. I hope the others are hiding, maybe shy. Will keep you posted.

Nice , how big is the female that gave birth ?The bigger the more fry usually . Many will get eaten , but like said before , the more hiding spots , the more will survive

I just wonder whether they are aware that they need to hide. The few I see swimming around make no attempt to hide.
