Come now dude.. a glass sump would be cheating. :p :D

WOOD ALL THE WAY!! LOL!! :D

Just kidding!! Very nice project man!! Can't wait to see when it's finished. Some advice though, don't go Malawi Cichlids in this, they'll dig right through the wood!! :p Mine are actually busy building their own PFS Pyramid in my 5ft setup. Must actually upload a pic of it. lol

Anyhow, congratz once again!! I surely am not brave enough to attempt a wooden tank yet!! :)

    Cheers,

    M

    Lol @WaRn00b

    Not a bad idea!

I think im going to just use for my bala sharks...when they get big.

What i did today....no pics at the moment.

Installed the down flow system for the sump and got the pump running. SO far im just letting it run on the small sump with no media untill i get a bigger one...or build a wood one lol

Just need @Fonkie to let me know how long before i can let the tank cycle...

    Little update (No Pics)

    Got my substrate (Thanks @SHiBBY)
Got a few rocks and ect

Going to transfer all the water from my 150l plus the sump to this tank. Sump is temp till i get bigger one...

Will transfer some water from my 360 and then top up the rest.

Tank is going to be placed in a temp place till work starts in our lapa. Outside of tank will be cladded with same stone as lapa.

Quick question, am i going to have temp problems with this tank situated outside?

    Just a add on.

Some changes are going to be made. Tank is going to be built in with the wall, still supported by stand though and adding a oval sight glass on the right side of tank.

Plans for fish is Tinfoil barbs and bala sharks.

Will 6 bala sharks and 6 tinfoil barbs be alright?

Think i have a problem already regarding the heat.
Temp stays at 23c with a 300w heater on max...what now? 2 heaters?

maybe thermo is broken? or heater is broken? because 300w full blast should be pretty hot! not to mention its not that cold yet..

I used to normal thermometers and one digital one... all around 21-23.

At home at the moment still the same, heater has been running for about 18 hours.

Will wait till weekend to sort it out

300w is plenty, maybe the heater's thermometer is broken. Try another heater and see what you get

@TroyFish... how many litres is the tank?

You may be loosing a lot of heat to the wood? (contrary to popular belief, wood is extremely poor insulator)

    Not so sure...

So is glass, if not more than wood?

    @Whipme an @shilhr

Will check the heater, and change it to see what happens

    Tank is running.

Using the 150l sump plus media, all the water, water from my other 360l and about 100l from tap.

Temp is sorted now, think its a faulty heater as the 200w (same brand) took it up to 24 in about 2 hours.

Will be opening a new thread on the tank but will update here when the hood is built and outside finish is done

Howsit TroyFish. Been browsing and came across your 'last' year project. How's the tank been going? Any leaks? What is '2K' paint? Thanks
