Ha ha ha...I'm the wrong person to ask the substrate question. I'm too poor to use proper substrate so I just use PFS and it's working fine for me. I use a 0.4 and 4mm silica gravel.

Read my post on the previous page Marius. This is the set I was referring too when I said I thought it was pricey but it's up to you. It seems to have everything you will need (except extinguisher). This setup will land up costing R2000.00 where I paid R1500.00 so not a huge difference. The only reason I would get this setup over mine is the italian solenoid and the glassware.

PFS - Pool Filter Sand - Silica gravel - Looks like this when it's clean (this is the 4mm grain size)
    2012-11-05-753.jpg

And in this pic if you look carefully you can see the 0.4mm gravel I added to my tank:

And this is what it looks like at the moment (the 0.4mm and 4mm have mixed):

It will fit on any standard 2Kg or 5Kg bottle with a 22mm thread size.

Dont know where you will find it in Oudtshoorn, but in Jhb its around R350 - R450 for a 2Kg, filled bottle
You will also have to find out who will fill it in your area, or George or so

@DerikPelser I have the ISTA system and it works great, its a 1kg bottle, and it runs about a month and a half on my 4 goot, so it does the job with great results, and its small and compact.

I think i'm gonna save for that ISTA setup too. Seems like the right option for my 110L...

That will be way cheaper, okey, that kit will be 1600, package 150, bottle 430, gate valve say 100,bubble checker, 150, powerhead probly 250? Since ill have to remove my hob cascade, or what would you guys say? Was told water movement above will decrease co2, but isn't a power head a little small for a 100L? bout 700Lph. So filter change and what more will need to change? airstone will also need to be removed, guess my corner filter aswell

From the scuba stuff I learnt, if a cylinder is damaged and have cracks it may explode. Think it may be the same for fire extinguisher as both contains compressed gas.
So get it checked out, Safety first.
