The other cobalt is from that pairs offspring and is huge ....

 

Ah, and @Sean has the leopard pair. Those cobalts looked awesome from the photos i saw.

 

He bought some of Seans fish aswell, pigeons I think.

 

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am painting more styrofoam this morning and will clad the sides of the cube to minimize any disruption to the pair when they spawn again. It will also give me a chance now to swap the black sponge filter with a clear plastic box filter with matrix. This female lays about every 4 days, so I anticipate another batch of eggs by mid week.

Quick update

the pair spawned again yesterday afternoon and the eggs are still all there today. Cant see how many, as she spawned behind the cone, so will just keep an eye out as to what transpires this time around.

nice Andrew was nice to see them spawn, will check the eggs out tomorrow when i see you again. Lets hope my leopard pair give a good spawning again.

 

Eggs are still there and both parents are hovering around the cone in a back and forth motion. Lets hope the eggs are still there in the morning.

@ phis man. I've actually seen tha pair with there fry ,they make good parents they looked very well after there young good luck I know they going breed for you

 

Day 2 and eggs are gone. Hopefully its because the pair is still settling in, and not something i am doing wrong.

I am feeding less frequent ( pellets and white mozzie larvae )
Minimal movement near the pair
Night light left on
No water changes since eggs were laid

I use to race homing pigeons when I was younger and I thought at the time that waiting 3 to 6 hours sometimes staring in the general direction of where they would come from was a test in my patience and then they would sneak in just out of site or fold their wings and drop like stones from 500m up. But when I tried my hand at Discus breeding, I changed my mind after the 6[SUP]th[/SUP] time the fish ate their eggs. All you can do is hurry up and wait, I don’t think it’s something you are doing Andrew its them and their new environment, well that’s my opinion anyway. Seeing as they are a seasoned breeding pair and all. Maybe @Dirk or @Marco has some more advice on this.

Patience I have plenty of. And there is a lot of life left in this pair so I dont mind waiting. Had another pair spawn an hour ago and what did freak me was there was a nice volume of eggs, but not all were sticking to the cone ( pot ). A large amount were either laid on the tank bottom in front of the cone or they had slipped off.
