Discus fry

Sorry correction @salim she is a Red Terquoise, one of the other ones I got from you is a Blue Terquoise it's also turned out to be a great looker.

 

The fry are still looking strong and are swimming in the current of the air filter but soon as that BBS hits the water man is it a different story, they go ape for those little sea monkeys. @Marco they have also taken to dirks 0.1mm granular feed so I am over the moon coz that's going to make life a lot easier when I just need my wife to do a quick feed for me when I can’t be there to harvest the BBS.

Well done buddy! Really glad its worked out for you! Its good that they eating the granulates, but try and keep feeding them bbs up to abt 28 days after free swimming, will make a big difference!

Well the pair have had their tank to themselves for 3 dam days now and my wife calls me to say she fed the fry oh and those bleeding horny fish have laid more eggs again she said. @Marco Is this health or should I separate them for a while, I mean surely they will burn themselves out if they keep this up and the quality of the fry won’t be so good either?

Nah dont worry bout it. They will keep spawning and as long as they are on "cycle" they will continue every few weeks. The fry didnt spend much time with the pair so I wouldnt worry about it now. Unhealthy discus dont spawn, so they are healthy, dont you worry.

If the fry spend many days with the parents, say 14 to 21, then I'd give them a rest by splitting them up with a divider for a few weeks, but in your case, just leave them Id say

Ya I was just concerned that it would take to much out of them but if that's the general consensus then I will have to start making space for the next lot of fry. How will the current fry take to the newer ones once they are all in one big tank but different size fry, do they get aggressive with the smaller ones of different batches?

Depends very much on size difference. I'd avoid it to be honest. You need both batches to get as much food as posdible, and the older ones will just outperform and out eat the small ones, leading to many problems with the smaller ones.
If the size difference is severe. . .the young ones could also become a meal. I lost abt 80 x ram fry, eaten by discus fry that were just a few days older than them. Given Ram fry are small, but I wouldnt even try

thats what is happening in my house. all i can say is at least it keeps us home. well done withe spawn cant wait to see what the juvi`s look like

 

Quick update, they are now at the stage where I can tell from the colouring how many are going to be pigeon bloods and how many RT's, it's still too early to see if there are going to be any mixes I am itching to see it there are. The RT’s do outnumber the PB’s about 60-40. I have given up with trying to take pics with my small digital cam but I am on the hunt to borrow a friends nikon so pics will follow soon.
