Well it looks like we have a few people here that seem to like this idea so maybe a few of us have the same preferences when it comes to our tanks.....

Personally I don't like it myself BUT if done correctly, as previously stated, I'm sure it would work. Just grind down the teeth if they are sharp so that they don't injure the fish :)

would look interesting for a species only tank with some kind of mean looking predator fish in it, like that prehistoric eel type fish thing in it, maybe dark/black gravel and a black background, and one light/spotlight centered on the skull, in other words, the FISH-tank won't be your focus, the skull will, so the fish should be minimal, OR
you do a very dense type Big planted tank, and kind of bury the skull in plants so it only half sticks out, also with some kind of predator fish in it...

i dunno, its not my style really, but i can imagine seeing it in someones house and striking up a weird convo about it, dunno, . . wouldn't want to own the tank myself though, hard to make something like that fit a room i suppose

I personally am a fan of the natural look, everything else looks a little gimmicky and silly to me - but then again I am a biologist. Bone would increase the alkalkinity of your water I presume - it is mostly calcium.

However, if you mean putting a skull in a massive tank with an arrowana - well maybe that theme would work... not with guppy's etc ;-)
