Just a thought, are they not down in the substrate or did the parents not perhaps move them?

I looked around briefly, but didn't see any strays @howard. The parents attention was completely focused on the original laying site.

I left a dim lit on in the background last night, so that the parents could see intruders eating their kids. Seems to have helped some. There are a few less this morning, but not the wholesale slaughter of the night before.

I counted about 50 wrigglers left on this pic. Can you imagine how massive a spawn would be if most of the eggs survive?? Hectic! Started hatching brine last night. How should I feed them to the fry in this 1.2m tank? Should I try to target feed? Or will the fry hunt down the brine shrimp?

I use a turkey blaster to get the washed BS down to the group. That way I know the food is in easy reach of the swimming fry

I think you should try and target feed, especially in the first few days.

As the fry get older and start swimming about more, you can just add the brine shrimp to the tank

All wrigglers gone this morning. Parents are still guarding the spawning site. I suppose once they're in the rhythm of the parenting thing, it will take time for them to snap out of it. I'll try to remove the next spawn and raise some separately, but all of my previous attempts at this have ended up as a fungus covered mess.

Sorry to hear, must be disappointing.

@Broder... sorry to hear.... I am dissapointed so can imagine how you feel

Silly question maybe.... I know the eggs easly grow fungus as its happened to me too but if you take the wigglers out, surely by then the fungus wont grow on them or am I wrong?

I think that may be a good way to do it @Maria. I'll have to get the timing just right though. Anyone ever done it like Maria suggested?

Yes, moved the wrigglers to something almost like a hob filter, with the gentlest of flow through it.
Also helps a lot with feeding as the bribe shrimp is close by much longer.

So the same pair has gone and laid another batch, but on a crypt leaf. What do I do? Remove now or wait for them to hatch? Remove now and the eggs will probably get fungus... Remove wrigglers later, there'll only be a few left.. Help me choose pleeeeeze.....

Catch 22. I think you must decide what you want out of it.
