Filter was not doing that great need more aeration and the spray bar looked dodge, so went HOB hunting since the Aquaclear 70 did not fit.

New HOB and new media never played with this before .... read up on it, not sure how well it will work but hey such is life.

for now I am OK with the down pipe.

Well mixing the different clay substrates - esp the tropica was a big mistake ... long story short had algae, wanted to put some BN's in the tank - hmmm have to remove the back net because they will get stuck behind that - tank turns to red mud - so I do an in tank replacement (have baby fry did not want to risk flushing them) - clearly none of this was planned or anticipated ...

removed all the substrate - replace with some "spare" Aquaforest lava soil ...

replanted the struggling plants - will add more later.

did not even have time to clean the glass while doing the in-place swop

please with the result ... running low on the AF Lava Soil - I had to go dig form some hardscape rocks to will the back and lift the wood.

I really like this texture and colour - no rinsing needed !!!!! (And coming from that mud bath - wow)

Few hours later and this water is clear ... must say feeling rather positive about old D-tank this round.

Walked past D-tank this morning - noticed I only had 1 Molly - not sure what / when something happened to the other - but clearly nobody was doing any breeding. Will be honest not much has gone in to the tank for fertz or maintenance - do drop some food in a few times a week - but the shape makes it hard to count fish.

anyway .. added a white and a yelrange molly - maybe we get some breeding going.

Rest of the tank is going just fine ....

Walked into a wet floor ... seam split on both sides of the back panel. Just under 12 years I should not be complaining.

Wet/dry on the floor rest moved into the boyu - will need to re-look what to plant where when I get back tonight.

Hope it didn't make too much of a mess.
